We just got back from the vet

He weighs 7 pounds 13 ounces.  Cry   Cry   Cry   Cry

I tried to join the Yahoo IBD site, even though he does not have IBD.

He has h.pylori.

I wanted to access the list of foods that members are having success with and I am not allowed until I answer all the questions received from them in an email.

Is anyone an established member who can share with me some of the recommended foods?

Please........for Rufus

I know some of the members on Catster have cats with h. pylori. They may even have a support group there. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I'm a member of Feline IBD, Peg - though inactive now for some months ... would you want me to ask the group something for Rufus?  I'll post for you.

Kaffe thank you, but no thank you at the moment.

Bonkers came through with a list of some foods that IBD folks are finding helpful.

While I was out buying up all sorts of canned food today DH was bringing cooked chicken and rice to Rufus every half hour and Ruf was eating on his own.

When I got home Rufus was coming out from the litterbox room and he was chattering like mad at me.  He led me back to the room and I thought I was going to find a big disaster.  Instead, he walked me to one of the boxes and was chirping wildly.  There, in the box was a wee bit of poo.  The color was right, it did not burn my eyes and the best of the best was.....................it had shape.  They were a little thinner than pencils, but they were shaped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Sorry about the gory detail, but this has never happened before Embarrassed

I looked at him and said, "Is that from you?  Did you do that?  That's so very pretty"

With that, he began to purr so very loudly and left the room with his tail up in the air and as straight as a rod!!!!!  He has never walked with his tail up since the day we brought him home.  He always carried his tail in line with his back or hanging down.

Best for me was his little tush was very clean and did not look all sore and raw.

Tonight's dinner was Kaffe's roast pork tenderloin.

DH had a variation and he was in his glory.
Catlets are all in various sleep positions, snoring and purring..............including Rufus Cheesy

This is such great news!  It's amazing that they truly do have nine lives.  I love to hear stories like this and I sure was hoping little Rufus was going to amaze you again.

On the Yahoo Feline Heart group I'm on the members constantly talk about Royal Canin Lamb formula to stop vomiting and it seems to work.  Maybe it's just the lamb that does it.  I also used Royal Canin's other veterinary formulas for my CRF kitties and they did like it a lot.

Here's hoping Rufus keeps that tail up and the stools formed!

oh my goodness!  I can just picture that scene in my head.  Yes - cats know when you are worried about something to do with them; and often, they know exactly what is is you're concerned about.  I'm sure Rufus couldn't wait for you to get home so he can show you his wonderful creation: shaped poop!  And of course he has a right to be proud of himself!  I'm so glad, Peg and let's hope that thin but well-shaped poopie is a harbinger of better things to come for sweet Rufus-boy.  Next best thing now is that he'll eat like a hog!

Oh I'm so glad that little Rufus did a formed poo for you! And best of all was the tail position, for that indicates a happy kitty indeed. I'm praying that the worst is now over for Ruffy Boy, and that from now on he will improve daily.

I'm so glad he's feeling more himself, Coontuffy! Here's a link on h. pylori, not sure how helpful it is, though!

I hope you don't mind, but I did ask about it on Catster(no names mentioned, obviously!). Here's the link to the response I got:

I hope it's of some help!

This is great news ct and it sounds like Rufus was really proud of the perfect poo he left for you!  Cheesy  If my memory serves me correctly, was not Rufus diagnosed with h pylori once before? Hopefully these last round of meds will keep that nasty bug at bay.

Thank you all for the prayers and best wishes.
Sherrylynne....thank you for that great info on the h.pylori
Bonkers, the h.pylori apparently was not all killed off the last time he was treated.

Rufus is not doing well and despite it all, he remains an absolute doll.   Cry
I am guessing it will take awhile for the weight to come back on.
AV tells me to be patient.  She says they lose weight at the drop of a hat but it takes time to put it back on.  I wish I had trouble gaining weight.  Wink
