Equity firms and pet food brands.

Catterton owns Nature’s Variety.

Berwind (Wellpet LLC) owns Wellness, Old Mother Hubbard, Holistic Select, Eagle Pack.

Very confusing, IMO.

I believe Catterton was the investment group that held Wellness/Old Mother Hubbard before Berwind acquired it. Yes, it can be VERY confusing!

Here's a site that logs recall announcements.  Might come in handy on Twitter.

Food politics.  That's what is killing our pets.

As Rocky says:

What signs of illness should I look for if my cat consumed affected food?

We have had no reports of illnesses in any cats to date. Short-term symptoms in pets may include reduction in appetite or refusal of food, weight loss, vomiting or diarrhea. If your cat is experiencing health issues or is pregnant, please see your Veterinarian.

What are the effects of too much zinc in my cat's diet?

We have had no reports of illnesses in any cats to date. In some instances, high zinc levels have been shown to cause lack of appetite, diarrhea and vomiting.

Have there been any reports of cat illness due to this issue?

We have not received any reports of pet health issues at this time.

That is just ridiculous! There are numerous reports of cats becoming ill posted on Consumer Affairs and many have stated that they have contacted the company. MAYBE their excuse could be that the statements by Nutro were posted back in May when they first recalled the food. But since this food was on the market since December, and there was not much press regarding the recall, there most likely are alot of people who are still using the food. I would bet that we will see more and more reports of illness posted on Consumer Affairs as the news spreads. Much gratitude should be given to those members who have been so diligent in spreading the word thru various avenues.                    GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!  Smiley

Those comments on Nutro's site makes them look very bad, IMO.

Bad business plan to make your customers sick (and worse), and then deny that you had anything to do with it.

Their statement is full of so many untruths. And the sad thing about it is that alot of people will believe them and continue to buy the food.    Sad
