Menu Foods has just announced another recall. This time for Natural Life 13.2 oz canned vegetarian dog food.
They’ve also expanded the recall on production dates of other products that had previously been recalled.

UPDATE (4/18/07)I just spoke with Kalep Turlip, the COO of Natural Life Pet Products. He said that they are voluntarily recalling the canned vegetarian dog food product due to the fact that it has wheat gluten in it. It is the only product they sell that contains wheat gluten.
A couple of weeks ago Natural Life had a lab test all of their products for unknown toxins, aminopterin, and melamine. Even though all of their tests were negative, they decided to pull the item. Their supplier wasn't able to tell them exactly where the wheat gluten came from so rather than risk having a product out there that might be contaminated, they made the decision to voluntarily recall it. The item has been discontinued and will be reformulated at a later time without any wheat gluten in it. They are currently doing more another round of testing.
