BJ's Recalls Berkley & Jensen Pet Food

(Rochester, N.Y.)-BJ’s Wholesale Club sent a letter to customers Tuesday, informing them of a pet food recall.

The letter indicates that the manufacturer of (Rochester, N.Y.)-BJ’s Wholesale Club sent a letter to customers Tuesday, informing them of a pet food recall.

The letter indicates that the manufacturer of Mars Petcare is recalling the 21.6 lb. bag of Berkley and Jensen Bistro Blend Premium Cat Food, and the 52 lb. bag of Berkley and Jensen Small Bites & Bones Dog Food.

The recalled products a “best by” date between August 11, 2009, and October 3, 2009.

The food may contain Salmonella. A strand was detected in a finished product produced in an Allentown, PA, facility.

If you have either or both of these products, they can be disposed of in a sealed container. BJ’s is asking that customers do not bring the recalled products into the store.

Thanks, Frosty, for posting this.  I spoke with my family in Pennsylvania tonight, and mentioned it as they all have small dogs and no one was aware of the recall.  I just emailed the Mars link off to them!
