My vet just called.
The lab will have the results in 2 days.

He has no teeth left but his canines.
She said she  will be surprised if the lab says it is not cancer.
She said it was very ugly and it looks like squamous cell cancer to her

CT, I'm so sorry for you and Gadget.  There is still a lot of hope even if it is cancer for many more months of a good quality life.  Several good groups are the feline-cancer Yahoo group, and the geocities one found at www.geocities.com/feline_squamous_cell_cancer/.  Also, on other Yahoo groups members are posting about using CoQ10 for oral cancers.  Since he's so young and healthy there are probably some good treatments you can look at.  Prayers being sent to you and Gadget, please keep us updated.  I don't mean to jump the gun and it may not even be cancer but wanted you to know this.

Thank you all so very much for your prayers and well wishes for Gadget.
We still do not have any biopsy back and a little bit of me is hoping for a Christmas Miracle for him.  He is such a sweet boy and I get sad and angry about the horrible things that furkids have to endure.  Innocence does not deserve this.

He has a very very good appetite today so I am hopeful that this will continue.

I am also hopeful that the lab is taking so long, because it's not cancer and they can't figure out what it is.   Undecided   I mentioned this thought to a coworker of mine today and she called me an "Idiotic Pollyanna"

I won't tell you what I called her under my breath.................. Wink

I wish I would have seen this sooner. My Nikki (horse) has a squamous cell carcinoma on her third eyelid in the corner of her eye. Doc removed most of it and then injected it with Neoplasene. He injected it again a month later and its been months and the tumor is gone and has not come back. We also used it on Misty's Mast Cell tumor. maybe your vet can give it a try?

GreyGhost..........

Thank you so very much for this amazing information!!!

I have printed everything up and will show it to my vet.

Still no biopsy results yet.
I'm still hoping that they can't figure out what it is and there is no cancer....
His appetite however, is wonderful.  Better than before the surgery   Shocked

The tumor was probably causing pain and discomfort and now that its not there he has his appetite back. That is great news.

Your vet can also call them and talk with them about the case and find the best protocol for him if its cancer.

Praying for good news.

Thanks for the kisses Gadget..........Right back at ya.... Kiss

CT, please update us if you have any of the test results back.  I keep thinking of you and Gadget everyday and praying all turns out well.  If you don't feel like communicating right now, we all understand.  Just know you are in our prayers.

Gadget is snoring and sound asleep on my pillow........ Cheesy

This was a difficult surgery for Angel vet and she did her best to remove this tumor in its entirety but was unable to do so.  The biopsy took forever and we both said that the longer it took, the better it was.

On December 17th at 10 pm Angel vet called me with the results of the biopsy.

The tumor of the upper jaw is a plasmacytoma with amyloid.
The tumor cells extend to the lateral and deep edges of the specimen.
These neoplasms are generally considered to be benign when solitary.
Complete excision is usually curative.

I had tears streaming down my face while she was telling me this and she finished by saying there really are Christmas miracles

Gadget needs to be reevaluated in 2 months or before if I see any facial swelling.
Right now, the contours of his face are so perfect again, it will be easy to see swelling.
What little was left may grow back or may not.
If it does, then Gadget will go to a Veterinary Dental Surgeon, as recommended by Angel vet.  She had a consultation with the Surgeon about Gadget yesterday.

It's a little hard to keep typing....hard to see through the tears of happiness.

Christmas came a little early for me this year............
This is the best gift I've ever gotten.

Thank you to all of you for your prayers, your well wishes and most especially your support.  I don't know what I would do without all of you wonderful folks.
