TCM, I downloaded the audio and listened to (most) of it but I can't hear you on it....can you let me know about how many minutes into it you're on?  I'd really like to hear this.  Thanks!  PS:  I have a new respect for reincarnation now.

This is alarmimg. How on earth can Champion ask these people to retract their comments without seeing if they are viable. Obvoiusly thinking about their hip pockets than our beloved animals. I find this disgusting from a company that claims to care for animals.

We need to get the word out that there are a few unconfirmed cases and if anyone suspects their cat is or has showed these symptoms we need to contact them.

Being from Australia I don't really know which forums here are popular. Can someone please help me with this. If this is happening elsewhere I can't sit back and do nothing (like Champion) knowing what these poor cats go through

Maxymia, there are people here in the US that can get the word out through other forums and blogs, but we'd like to have the content written by one of the affected kitty owners on what we should be posting, with permission to cross post.  If you can PM me something then we can get started on it right away.

To all our Australian friends, we will do whatever we can to support you and your dear kitties, and getting the word out about Champion's response to this tragedy is where it will hit them hard.

I don't know if this has been posted before.  A news clip about the Orijen horror in Astralia.  The banner reads: "If you love your pets, don't buy them any imported food"

Actually, kaffe, that's a copy of the Australian Broadcasting Corp's 7:30 Report (which, itself, is posted in the Australian Media's YouTube 'chanel').

Actually, TAZ, Whether the video has been previously posted is not important. What is, is that it can never be viewed enough times as a constant reminder to people of the horrors that this food has caused.

Well, perhaps it isn't important to you but, actually, Bonkers, my own code of ethics is one that supports truth and accuracy....values which I hold dear and, which I have sometimes found to be lacking in some of the posts here. (Oh, if something were not "important" to me, I'd just ignore it! Wink)

While you, and some others here (I'm sure they'll chime in soon enough!) appear driven by the need to wage never-ending war against the Pet Food Industry, even a cursory read of what most of those affected are saying is that they want all this to end. As a responsible kitty-parent, I see that video as a reminder of my own need to remain constantly vigilant.

Meantime, if you wish to nit-pick, so be it. You can certainly have the last word, if you'd like. Me...I'll keep my eyes on the ball!

Wow what an assumption. I have not seen any lies on here. Try not to insinuate that those that post here lie.

Then whats the problem with it being posted over and over. Some are seeing it for the first time and they deserve the chance to see it. Its not always obvious where things and information is on a forum.

I don't see it as nit picking. Its a post with an opinion. I don't see the problem you have or why you have the attitude you do but most on here are honest and post very useful information. Even if its posted a few times. Doesn't seem to bother anyone but you. Maybe you should rethink your post and not be so condescending. You might try not putting people down and also maybe posting some useful information.

There, I guess I'm one of "those" you waiting for to chime in. And by the way I will now and forever have a war against the PFI. I will not be caught off guard again. Period. End of story.

"Wage never ending war on the pet food industry"

I would have thought if there was a war it was started by the Pet Food Industry who through their lack of due diligence supply foods to our pets that are toxic!!!! And kill and maim our furry companions. Not once but over and over if you look at all the incidents that have occurred and keep occurring.

As an Australian whose cats are affected by Champion foods I can assure you I wish this was all over - but it clearly is not going to be anytime soon.

I also think that given what has happened to our cats and what we have found in our research we have a duty to warn other people that irradiation is being done without consumers being aware of it - to pet food and human food alike - and not just in Australia.

Taz you talk about being constantly vigilant I wish you well! Because companies do not have to have accurate labels and do not have to tell you how they treat product so good luck with your constant vigilance as no amount of research will tell you what is really happening until it all hits the fan. Unless you have a magic wand and a hell of a lot of luck on your side constant vigilance will not protect you.

We didn't feed Orijen with out first hand reports from pet owners who had been feeding the product successfully for years, without investigating, and even then we only introduced it as a very small portion of our cats diet. And we still have a cat dead and 5 others with this horrid syndrome after feeding Orijen. A simple label placed on Orijen stating it contained BHA & BHT &/or had been irradiated would have prevented it entering our home and poisoning our cats.

oh dear... Guys, we're all in the same team, ya?  I don't think TAZ was anywhere complaining that the YouTube video clip I posted was already posted here before... I think she was just saying it is the 7:30 news report of something or other...

TAZ, if we sound a mite aggressive towards the PFI, you should see the posts in other forums!  Besides, a few months after the March 2007 petfood recall here in the US, some people were saying, "it's over, everything is honkey-dorey now..." and then melamine was still turning up in various petfoods and  treats and then "bang" - in infant formula as well!  If you've had a beloved pet struck down becuase you fed it a commercial petfood you thought was 'good,' I'm sure the "war with the PFI" will never end for you either.  While my cats have not eaten any of the recalled foods, I have freinds whose cats are now either chronically sick or have died.  Their pain in immeasurable precisely becuase they fed the poisoned food with their own hands, not knowing it contained something that will harm and even kill their pet.   Forums like this one give these pet parents an avenue not just to "vent" but to disseminate information while they "educate" themselves more on petfood, pet health and nutrition, etc.  Forums like this also goes a loooong way in making the PFI sit up and listen to the concerns of those who buy their products.

I want to remind everyone of the Member Guidelines you agreed to when you became a member of this forum. One of the points is to discuss things in a respectful manner, and I find some of the posts in this thread to be lacking in that regard. This is not a place to question someone's ethics or point fingers.

I'm asking everyone to please read your posts before hitting the submit button and if you would be offended if someone said it to you, then say it another way. It's quite possible to disagree while still staying respectful.

Most of you who have been around a while know that I don't like to step in and monitor conversations. It irritates me to no end to think it's even necessary. However, this forum will not become another ugly internet cesspool and I will take appropriate actions to ensure it doesn't become that.

If you have a problem with the policies of this website, or with the way I manage it, you're invited to find another forum.

So, again...before you hit the "post" button please be sure what you say is respectful, even if you disagree with what has been said.
