Perseus, Would that be the canned or the dry Evo that they are using?

Mostly Evo dry although some have used the canned from the posts I've read, but I haven't had a chance to read them all.  It's all Evo grainless with real meat.

I found this and many more in Dr. Fox's very very long article on his website:

Mutation Research/Genetic Toxicology and Environmental Mutagenesis, 2003, Vol. 539295-201.   This paper from the Biology and Biotechnology Research Program, Livermore, California  is entitled “Mutagenic activity and heterocyclic amine carcinogens in commercial pet foods” and the paper says that 25 varying brands of  tinned cat food were tested for carcinogens in them and that out of the 25 cat foods tested, 24 of the cat foods were found to have carcinogens which could cause cancer in the cats fed these pet foods.    Presumably dry pet food will also contains these carcinogens and so pet food is clearly causing cancer in pets not least since it usually contains BHT, BHA and other cancer causing chemicals such as Ethoxyquin which is still put into British pet food to give the pet food almost indefinite shelf life.     Ethoxyquin has never been tested in cats to see if it is safe but has been found in dogs to cause illness, which is why American dog owners demanded that it be removed from pet food there.   linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/S1383571803001645

Very interesting read Kaffe although I could not get some of the links to work for me. Lots of informative and thought provoking articles. I have it bookmarked so I can go back and read more later  Thank you for posting it!

Yes, Kaffe, very good info on Dr. Fox's site.  I noticed he has a new book out in October, written with Dr. Hodgkins and Dr. Smart, Not Fit for a Dog (the truth about manufactured dog and cat food).  I didn't even know a new one was in the works.  It would be interesting if anyone has a book review on it yet.

I've been going through it with my dog Lydia since July. Thankfully we believe her cancer is in remission, but she still has one or two rounds of chemo to go through yet. It's such an emotional roller coaster and I'm hoping for both of you that it's not cancer!

Therese
Therese, I just read your blog on PetsitUSA about Lydia still being in remission!  Congratulations!  You go girl!  Very nice picture of Lydia and her Dr., too.

Oh, and happy belated birthday from the gang at Perseus' Place!
