Natures Variety uses pork livers and hearts in their Raw Rabbit formula. I think that's the only one I can think of that uses Pork. I was also concerned about trichonosis in the Pork but talked to the Rep who sent me a letter from their vet about it not being an issue so I still feed it and Misty loves it.

Found a dry dog food that uses pork as its protein source but I cannot find any cat foods that contain it. Maybe it is in those that contain by-products or undefined meat sources.

There is still a lot of fear mongering that goes on about raw diets, let alone the whole pork issue. I'm guessing the PF companies figure it's a losing battle, so why throw away the money!
As far as the probiotics, I've only tried them with him once, a number of years ago. He refused to even go near his dish. Never really thought about it after that I guess. And like I said- he's happy, so what the heck.

I use capsule probiotics for myself and Misty. I just stick it in some canned food on a spoon. I use Culturelle. The Culturelle has the most billions of good bacteria I could find per serving.

Yay, Watson and Ligiea! Today they ate 1" chunks of cornish hen, WITH rib bones, and only a little gravy from the canned on it.
Now watch- tomorrow they won't touch it Roll Eyes

Are you kidding? They wouldn't do more than have a couple of nibbles that night Roll Eyes. But I do have to say- Watson and Ligiea are both on raw. Period. Yes, they get a little canned smeared on top- maybe 1/2 tsp, but that's it! Most times they'll eat it, sometimes not. Those are now the times they get ticked because I won't give them anything else Cheesy! And yes, I make sure they've eaten enough for the day so that they don't get sick. I just have to "outwait" them, lol! If I wait long enough, they usually go back into their dishes to finish them up! Some times it takes an hour or so, but they do go back in Grin

sherrylynne, my 8 mo. old kitten Athena got spayed 3 weeks ago, and I guess it's changed her taste buds!  She's eating about half and half canned and raw, where she used to eat almost 90% raw.  She is just refusing the raw most of the time, even with some dried meat toppers put on it (her old favorite).  So we're giving her what she wants for right now (Wellness Canned grainless) with the hope she reverts back to her old self soon.

I could probably "out wait" her on each meal served, but geez those big beautiful blue eyes begging for something else rip right through me and all of a sudden I'm popping open a can.....

The good news is they are all on raw, with just a bit of canned smeared on top! They've all been eating this for about a week. Stubbs simply decided he wanted raw meat, and started stealing Watson's food Cheesy, so I gave him his own.
Watson will now eat a few smallish quail bones, and the rest get pulverized egg shell.
So I think we can now say- we made it! Thank you for all the support you've shown me. And some days- I really needed it Grin

Sherrylynne, Wonderful news!  I'm sure you're so relieved.  Now what are you going to do with all that spare time??? I hope you continue to post here!

We put our paw down with Athena and stopped giving into her batting her eyes at us, and let the raw food sit for a few minutes each time instead of popping a can right away.  Sure enough she started eating it again.  In just a week or so we got her back to about 90% raw.
