Ok guys. Misty is scheduled for surgery Thursday morning. The MCT that last popped it needs to come out. The bio-preparation has reduced it considerably but I feel even as small as it is I can't take a chance since this treatment is taking longer than the last. We all know MCT are very unpredictable so I think its best to remove it. Another fine needle showed alot of mast cells concentrated so we decided to remove it. I think the bio-prep did a great job reducing it making it a smaller surgical site. It may have even got rid of it eventually but I can't wait any longer. I don't want to give it time to start spreading.

Wish my baby luck. I of course will be a total wreck. I know, here I am a tech and all and should be ok with all of this but its my baby and i also know the dangers. I will post an update Thursday after we get home.

Oh GreyGhost - my heart is in my throat for Misty too.... but I feel that since it is a small growth, it will eventually be a successful surgery.  nd I absoutely agree with you not to wait for the BioPrep to remove it completely.   But of course the waiting will be agony... know that we're here for you and will be praying for a great out come for Misty.  Give her a kiss on the nose from me, K?

GG, it sure sounds like you're taking the best possible solution for Misty and know you are always in our prayers.  I know the vets like to shrink or reduce any tumors before doing the surgery if they can.  Good thing you have the veterinary background to know what to expect, and I don't blame you a bit for being a wreck anyway.  Perseus had surgery today and underwent anesthesia but everything turned out okay and we'll be picking him up in about an hour.  I just kept positive thoughts for the last week before his surgery and it did seem to help me through it.

Her nose is now wet with kisses. She thanks you. Right about the waiting. i will be there during the surgery and when she wakes up. Not sure if we will do ISO or dexdomitor. I like the dexdomitor. Its very safe and cool anesthetic but its only for very quick procedures. I think this one will be quick. But we are doing hip radiographs and checking teeth while she is under.  I'll try to keep myself under control.

We didn't shrink it on purpose so to speak. It would actually go away completely on its own and come back in a few weeks for a day and then repeat the process. That's what I hate about MCT. They are weird and unpredictable. I thought it was a bug bite at first cause it went away the next day. But when it came back in the exact same spot I knew it had to be something else. I immediately started her on bio-prep and the next time it came back it was only a 1/4 of the size and I hoped after it left that time it would not come back again. But it did so I don't want to wait so wish her the best and pray for me since I will be the one that's a nervous wreck...lol She on the other hand absolutely loves going to the vet. My best friend will be doing the anesthetic and assisting and I know she will take good care of her. Her new vet is also an excellent surgeon. I just wish it was over already.  Wink

Glad surgery went well for Perseus. yeah....

The other good news is that we scheduled surgery so fast I don't have too much time to work myself up in a frenzy.  Smiley

GG,, I am sorry to hear that Misty has to have surgery. But like the others I believe you are wise in having it removed. No sense in taking any chances with it turning into something more serious. It will be over with before you know it and then this will all be behind you. I will be thinking of you both from now till Thursday.

Thanks Bonkers,
I know I worry way too much. I think its more because of being a tech and knowing the ins and outs and the things that can wrong. I know she will be fine. They must all think I'm nuts. They told me I could drop her off at 8 and they would call when she was done. I was like you don't know me very well do you. I'm not leaving and I'll be watching. lol. The receptionist did not kow me and had no idea what to say. It was kind of funny. I got to laugh anyway.

Wishing you luck with Misty's surgery, GG! I'm sure it will be done and over before you know it, and they will get all of it! Give that girl a hug for me.

Hi All,

Sorry this took so long. We got home shortly after 4pm. I watched her carefully not wanting to leave her said or let her out of my sight. The MCT was removed fully. pathology report will be back in a few days. The hip radiograph caused her lots of pain afterwords. that's my main worry. She really is sore. gave her pain meds of course. She finally started walking on her own about 10 minutes ago. She had her light dinner and everything went well.  She is laying down now. The drugs are taking forever to ware off. She still has droopy eye. She has gone out to potty and that was good also.

Ok the radiographs are not good. Her one hip with arthritis is pretty bad. Other one is fine. So we will see the orthopedic surgeon in a couple of weeks and see what the game plan will be. If we can manage it on Deramaxx I think that would good for a short while. I don't want her on that too long. Hip replacement is an option. I think maybe the best option. I'll keep you all posted on that.

The anesthesia went very well and blood work is perfect. She is a real trooper. She is probably wondering what truck ran her over while she was sleeping. Its so sad to watch. I hoping it will be much better tomorrow since she will get some good rest.

GG and Misty.........so happy that you are both home safe and sound.
Glad the MCT was fully removed.

Continued prayers for a speedy recovery for beautiful Misty.

GG take a look at this for Misty.
It is really helping my kitty Rikers.
She's been on it for 2 weeks now and has become a lot more mobile and the pain is gone.
She is severely arthritic in her entire spine.

phewww... thanks for the update and I'm glad the surgery went real well, but sad about the hip... one thing at a time, though... Yes; Misty is a real Trooper and I hope she feels more like her old self tomorrow.  Have a good night's rest both of ya!  Kiss
