"Our canned manufacturer, American Nutrition, from Ogden Utah just informed us that they are recalling all canned products made in their plant that contain rice protein concentrate. American Nutrition continued by telling us that they added this ingredient  to four of our canned products without informing us.

This tells us that NB was completely and stunningly full of shit when they said that they have full-time employees on site to oversee the production of their food. Obviously, ANI makes it whatever way they want, and sends it to them when they're done.

There used to be a full explanation on The Pet Food List from them about where and how NB's foods were made. But, for some reason, it's all gone. It only has their web link and a statement that some of their products have been recalled. I wonder why Therese removed all that info?

Hi, Garypen, Are you sure it wasn't on the original Petsitusa blog? I remember all of that, too.

Nope...I didn't remove it...I did remove most of NB's info from The Pet Food List. The explanation is still on the blog at PetsitUSA.com though...

Right. The original blog. Why was it removed for the list? It was very good, and very important, information.

I never had the entire thing on the list...just their latest version. I totally removed them when they had their last recall (not today's), and then added just the name back in red to indicate that they'd had recalls.

Maybe you should put the info back about Diamond, American Nutrition, the fact that they SAY they have someone on site...yadda yadda yadda. It's very interesting info.

There is an email rumor that some stores are removing all NB products.  Can anyone confirm this?  TY.

Pet Food Express seems to be taking no chances. If they carried the brands we used, we'd shop there exclusively.

Natural Balance reports that the following products may be contaminated:
<snip>
We previously withdrew all Natural Balance dry and canned foods so this does not represent any change in status for these products at Pet Food Express.

Our suppliers care deeply about making good, safe products, their livelihood depends on it. At this point, however, we feel that if a manufacturer has any of its products being recalled we must then suspect everything that that manufacturer does within the affected category and remove all those products from our shelves.
