I have read and been given so much conflicting information regarding protein and fat levels to raise a healthy dog.  Does anyone know what the correct amount of fats and protein I should be feeding.  I am considering Orijen, Wellness and Hill.  All in large puppy dry food.  Also what about rawhides versus bones.  I was again told not to give my puppy rawhide chews and so I bought her a bone.  She was so sick and had the runs after I will never give her another bone in her life.  Does anyone have lab experience.  My old lab who we adopted when she was 5 died of osteosarcoma at 10 years old.  I want my new puppy to have healthy bones and a good long life.  I didn't realize it could be so confusing.

Orijen and Wellness are both good, quality foods. Hill's is not. Those are things I can tell you for sure.

Orijen is a very good choice. Wellness would be a good choice too. Hill's is not a food I would give my dogs even if vet's sell it. There are other high quality foods.  Bones are generally very bad for dogs and right now most of the rawhide is imported. Kong toys and nylabone toys are good for chewing. The quality dog food companies often produce biscuits and other treats. Look through the foods and their websites on The Pet Food List link. Wysong is an excellent company and offers various types of treats. Old Mother Hubbard is part of Wellness and they make dog treats. Lots of others do too.
