Hey guys. I just saw on Natural Balances website that they just came out with a new dry food. Its green pea and duck. Its grain free. So Im guessing it is replacing the venison and green pea. I am still a little leary because we were feeding that when it got recalled (everyone is fine) but I they are testing all their foods now and posting the results on the website. What does everyone think? It would be a good food for our cats with allergies that were doing food on California Natural and want to change.

I understand from an article on Itchmo that NB is doing in-house testing.  I'd feel a whole lot better if they were using an independent lab.  I'm still not convinced . . .

I'm about to open my last 4 pound bag of Cal Nat with a 10/07 pull date. That gives me 3-4 weeks to either be convinced that natura has solved their 2007 manufacturing problems or find a new brand.

I've noticed with the current bag (as it gets fairly close to the pull date) that kitty won't touch it if it's been in his dish for more then an hour. I think Nataura may be a little optimistic on these 1 year pull dates; I didn't run into this with the previous bag.

When I open the last bag, it's going straight in the fridge. The last thing i want to do is throw out any more cat food that I know is not poisonous.

It probably doesn't hurt to store these "natural" dry foods in the fridge, in general, regardless of brand.
