Here is a link to a long but extremely informative "must read" article on cats and vaccines.  I found the following paragraph especially noteworthy:
Quote
Feline vaccines are commonly grown in Crandall-Reese Feline Kidney ("CRFK") cells. As a consequence, feline vaccines contain CRFK proteins. A study conducted by Colorado State University showed that only one injection of the common feline three-in-one vaccination (FVRCP) led to production of anti-kidney antibodies. This study indicates that vaccination could be a cause for chronic renal failure in cats.

Excellent article Davis. I have so few articles on cats as I only have dogs. I have been researching vaccinations/dogs for seven years. The saddest part for me is the fact that vets have had access to so much  of this info on the deleterious effect of vaccinations on cats and dogs for many years now but just"keep on pushing them."  Money Huh
This is as serious a problem as the pet food problems but stays under the radar as the toxic effects are often slower. Pet owners don't make the connection and vets won't tell.
Well look what we are doing to our kids. Schools require so many vaccines now no wonder the rise in autism and other problems. Why? Money for the drug companies Huh

Thanks Sylvia.  I completely agree with what you're saying.  This is a serious problem.  I'm glad you suggested the forum, and that you found my article helpful.  I think this forum will be useful for discussions on both pet and people vaccine issues.

That really explains alot of things, including that I've been told all my life by vets that CRF is a natural cause of old age death in cats.

I am so glad I made the choice a couple years back to stop vaccinating my indoor guy.

This is very interesting. I do not recall ever hearing that vaccinations may be linked to developing CRF in cats.  Upon doing some researching, it seems that vaccinations may be linked to many illness's and diseases that occur in both cats and dogs.  http://www.holisticat.com/vaccinations.html

Here's another excellent link on the dangers of feline vaccinations: http://www.vas-awareness.org/

What is VAS Awareness?
“VAS” stands for Feline “Vaccine Associated Sarcoma.”  Some also call this disease “Injection Site Sarcoma” or "Vaccine Site Sarcoma".  VAS is any of a number of cancers, most commonly Fibrosarcoma, which are believed to be triggered by vaccinations and occasionally other kinds of injections.  VAS is primarily an issue for domestic cats, though it has been identified in ferrets and tigers, and recent research indicates that it may also occur in dogs.

Who are we?
The people who make up VAS Awareness come from a group of people who currently have a cat being treated for this cancer or have had a cat that has died as a result of this cancer.  We include professionals from the world of business and veterinary medicine.  We are not anti-vaccination, but pro-education.  We believe that prevention is the best cure for this deadly cancer and that through public education, the incidence of this cancer can be reduced dramatically.
