Hi all,
In the fall of 2000 I lost a beautiful, healthy dog to annual vaccination boosters in six days. It was a painful, nasty death even though everything was done to help him. It was shortly after this that I learned of the research out there indicating that what happened to Rave was not so unusual. I have been researching this topic ever since and have changed what I ALLOW in the way of vaccinations - almost none.
Below are just a few sites you can start with but there are tons more you can find using google. You will see Dr Jean Dodds of UC Davis and Dr Ronald Schultz come up a lot as they are among the foremost researchers in this area. You can find Dr Dodds 2007 recommended protocol by googling in Jean Dodds 2007 vaccination protocol.

I have more on dogs than cats as I have no cat presently. I know Cornell has done a lot of research on feline vaccination and new protocols and the AAHA has new guidlines on vaccinating cats.
The following site has a variety of articles on both dogs and cats:

Some breeds are much more susceptible than others.

Shocked oops! I made some errors entering these site but they should be correct now.
