After much research, I decided to put my 2 lab's on the Southwest Chicken & Herb dry food from Timberwolf Organics.  The dogs absolutely love it, and I love the fact that it is organic and there is no animal testing involved (straight from PETA's website).  Whether you agree with the fact that they do not disclose who their plant is or not, who cares!  As long as the certify that it is not a plant involved with the recall and that they strictly follow their ingredients... who really needs the name & location of where the food is made?

I am currently feeding my cats Timberwolf Serengetti, grain free cat dry food. They love it and are doing well on it so far, hope it'll stay that way.

I just bought the Serengeti cat formula for our cat, however she hasn't tried it yet.  Hopefully she likes it!

Dogs are doing great on their Timberwolf food.

Well now that we have to watch out for the rice <ggrrrrrrr Angry , I just got some Timberwolf Organics Dakota Bison for my 2 shelties. Although the boy will eat anything, Hannah is very picky and refused the Canidae. They both scarfed it down and looked for more to go into their bowl. I like that it is organic, WDJ listed it, and most of all that Hannah will eat it.  Guess we all still have to stay on our toes no matter what.

I have a question about the Serengeti for cats. . . I've been told Evo is really too much protein for their kidneys to handle and have veered away from it. Being grain-free, does Serengeti fall into that same class?

It is 38% percent protein, while EVO is 50% if I remember correctly.

I've been feeding my "pack" Timberwolf for a couple years now- everyone looks great and feels great on it!  I switch formulas nearly every bag (usually using the Bison, Elk, or Fish formulas),even the fussy eater loves it!  There are a couple other foods out there that I like, and I do occasionally feed a bag of something else (like Artemis), but mostly they eat TW.  Plus a raw breakfast, and some canned (for humans) fish.  These are all very active dogs, and I've been really happy with their health and energy levels.  They don't do well on Lamb, though, no matter who makes it, or what form it's in!  (Actually, the fussy eater won't touch it anyway, you should see the face he makes in class when the person next to me uses Lamb jerky as treats  Tongue)
I'd love to try Orijen for my "old boy" though, but I can't get it where I am- yet.  The higher protein levels without humongous fat levels might be just what he needs to feed his muscles without overfeeding his quick-to-expand fat cells!

Its been almost a month now and the pups are doing great with TW.  Their coat has never been shinier and the fussy eater now likes to eat again!  I'm concerned about their food no matter what due to this recall, but I'm hoping TW will not be affected.

The cat loves her new food as well....  Grin

I've been feeding Timberwolf Serengetti (grain free cat dry food) to one of my kits for about a week now. She refused to switch to wet food, so I compromised by finding a grain-free dry, for the time being.

So far she likes it a lot - only problem is that the other kitty, who was thrilled to switch to wet food, occasionally swipes a snack of the Serengetti.  Smiley

Beware of Timberwolf Organics!!!  It is not Organic at all. The food is made in Chenango Valley Pet Food Company (Chanango was part of the recall) and its contents are not what they claim to be. We have found glass particles and metal in the kibble and one of our dogs almost died after eating Wild and Natural.  Their customer service sucks!! There is a Cust. Service fruitcake that does'nt even know what he is saying and his queer voice is really disgusting on the phone.

Bottom line is that no product can be organic if is not certified as organic by the USDA. So don't let these people pocket your money.

A good product to try instead is INNOVA. My dogs are doing great with it.

And nobody wants their dogs eating that queer food. Next thing you know, they'll be marrying people.  Roll Eyes

After 8 months on Timberwolf Organics, my lab's were gaining way too much weight and only getting 1 cup of food a day.  Due to the high level of protein, our vet suggested that we needed to switch or cut them down to 1/2 cup per day - which is ridiculous!  So, they now enjoy Wellness Weight Management until they take off the extra weight and then we'll keep them on Wellness.

Loved the Timberwolf, but I love having my dogs healthy more!
