The world's cutest cat

I finally have to unload about this food.  Nutro literally sends chills up my spine...they're one of those companies who couldn't care less.  I hate them for what this food was doing to my cat, especially because they still claim the food was safe.  He is now an ENTIRELY different cat off of that food, and was consistently ill on it...neurological problems, lethargy, constant bile vomiting, and dehydration...all completely gone now.

About eight months ago he started to deteriorate rapidly and I couldn't figure out why.  Four months ago I thought he may be dying, then the pet food crisis hit and I changed his food, still not making any connections with this food and his health.  I did not take him off of it because I thought it was tainted, but instead because some of Nutro's other products were involved in the recall and I didn't want to support them at that time.  Lo and behold, the day I took him off of that food, he progressively improved and is now back to normal.  Hey Nutro, NO, it is NOT my "imagination".  In fact, I had no preconceived ideas about any of this.  Now I am devastated, because I fully realize what was wrong.  Whatever was in the food, it was destroying him...so if not melamine, then something else, but it was "BAD".  There is absolutely no coincidence to it...my observations of the course of events are complete proof.  And yet, it would be futile to tell them that.  For that reason, they are more despised by me than any other company on the face of the planet.

I'm sure it's not your imagination, and I'm so glad he's doing better! But sadly, you're probably right that it would be a waste of time to contact Nutro. They're too busy promoting their contest - the winner gets a year's supply of pet food!

What is it, a euthanasia contest?  Disgusting.  I guess they have to have a contest or no one would have any interest in their toxic food.  Pity the poor animal who is the recipient of that contest.

Thanks for your kind words about my kitty Therese.

I used to feed my cats Nutro Natural Choice Weight Management. My older cat Tootles, used to vomit almost daily. Back then, I assumed it was hairballs. (This was waaaaaaaay before the recalls, and the heightened awareness as a result.) I decided to try a different food. I switched them to Royal canin Light 37, and noticed an immediate difference.

Not only did the vomiting COMPLETELY disappear, the older cat became more playful, happier, with a softer shinier coat. About two years later I switched to Science Diet Senior. I'm not sure why. She was never as healthy looking or acting.

I realize Royal Canin's formula is pretty "grainy", and they too had some recall issues earlier this year. But, I would certainly consider using that brand again, if there was a widespread problem with the holistic brands I prefer now. But, I would NEVER consider using a Nutro product again EVER. I'd even use Friskies or Cat Chow before using Nutro.

I'm really starting to hate pet food companies.
