Hi, all I received a letter today in which the FDA notified me that the Food I had left over from when my dog passed away in NOV. tested positive for melamine. The vet felt it was some kind of poisoning but my dog was never away from my except when crated in a safe environment.

The scary part is that the food was Nutro Max Chicken and Brown Rice cuts with a date of Sept 25, 2006.  This would bring the ChemNutra supply date of November into question.  Either the date we were given for ChemNutra's supply was wrong or someone else was also supplying tainted wheat gluten to Menu Foods prior to ChemNutra.  In less of course there is another dark secret.

This date only seems to be showing up at the FDA master list and is not being listed anywhere else that I can find, nor has anyone questioned why the public has not been notified that the melamine was present before November 2006.

I wish I could say this surprises me but it doesn't. I fully suspect melamine has been in foods way longer than anyone knows...or will admit to even if they do know!

Have you contacted Nutro about this yet?

I'm not the least bit surprised either.  There are a lot of things that we are not being notified about, on lists or otherwise.  I'm very sorry to hear about your dog iggyrock.

As for Nutro. I have VERY bad feelings about them.  In fact, I'm going to go leave a post in the Nutro forum now.
