Unfortunately, I don't think the problems that brought us together are really permanently solved or even close.........

Yeah - I noticed how quiet it has been too.  Not much going on.  I agree, though, not much solved.

Geff, I totally agree! I'm guessing the pet food companies are counting on the "out of sight, out of mind" theory. We aren't seeing recalls every day like we did for a while so they're counting on many people forgetting! The sad thing is I'm afraid that may be the case for the majority of people. After all...if it's on the shelf, it must be safe, right?! HA! For the most part, I expect things will be business as usual.

It may be quieter, but, at least for me, not out of mind. As a consumer my habits have changed. I suspect that the real impact will be measure in long-term trends and not short-term noise.

Yes, it's quieter here, but not necessarily for the reasons you may think.  I have not forgotten any of this and still stay updated.  It is in the forefront of my life every single day.  And you are all correct, nothing has changed at all.  I miss the old gang around here, but I suspect that the loyal posters here have not stepped back because they are forgetting, but for other reasons.  As for the rest of society, they have a tendency to forget...even worse, they bury their heads in the sand in the midst of these things.

Well said, Davis. This whole business was an awful lot of stress for the pet-lovers. A respite from all of this is needed, and while we are not out of the dangers of food poisons and toxins, a little quiet time when there is no recent news is well needed. I am sure we all think of it every time we set a plate of food down for our critters and remember the ones that weren't so lucky. Yet it would be unhealthy to stay stressed when there is a moment of quietude. Trying to forget for a bit is an automatic survival mechanism! Hugs to all, Mary

Thanks for asking! Apparantly I'm quite lucky. I saw the doctor today. He'd never told me this before, but today I was told that most people with this require 2-3 surgeries before it takes, & that he believes I'll be ok with the 1 only.  Still debating whether I should be happy or angry (for not being told before having the surgery), but happy is winning out. I've got about 40 more days to go before i can make an apt for new glasses & find out how much I can actually see.

The doctor is taking me off all medications 30 days early, so he must be quite confident.

Glad to hear you're doing so well, Geff. I say be happy - there are more than enough things to be sad and angry about!

You should be happy...happy, happy, happy!!!  Of course he didn't tell you.  If he had told you before that odds were high you would require more surgeries, you would have stressed even more and been down in the dumps.  He did the right thing in not telling you Geff.  It was much better for your recovery not to stress even more than you already were, and he knew it.  Also, if you had known there was a slim chance you might not require more surgeries, then think of the disappointment you would have faced if you ended up having to have more.  This way he could give you great news,, but it was not news he could have promised you in the beginning, so it was better not to tell you.  We were all pulling for you.  I'm glad things turned out well.

Hello Everybody!!!!

Sorry I haven't been around for awhile......long story!

But one thing that I CAN tell you.....I'm still feeding my "babies" from home!

Yup!....i HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN......that my pet's safety is MY responsibility.....and I would be a fool to think that these pet food companies have changed. My dogs are super-healthy....and, I am proud to say, that I have NOT bought ANY pet products (I make my own doggie cookies too!)....at all since I changed their diets.

I hope everyone is doing OK.....Therese..sorry to hear about your dog.........

I don't know when I'll be on here again.......but just know that I hold this forum close to heart.....without it...my dogs could still be eating commercial dogfood (if they lived this long!!).

Best wishes to you all......and of course, your "fur-babies"!.......take care!

Willy!  It's good to hear from you again.  What is the "long story" that has kept you away?  Inquiring minds want to know.  Well, if you're not around, then your probably won't even see this.

It is really quiet here, but I guess that's good because it might mean most people are not having trouble with their pets and/or food.   Grin

Just checking in again.  I, like lots of others, haven't been here often but have thought of all of you and your furkids.  Have had some medical issues with CJ, this time it's liver enzymes and all the resulting tests, so have spent lots of extra time with her. As much as I HATE doing this, because of her health I have stuck with the Eukanuba Prescription because it works for her and every time I try to change (even slowly) she gets sick again.  And, to be honest, it makes it hard to read about how bad the food is for her knowing that that's what I'm giving her. I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I'm even backing away from Itchmo a bit because of all the recent awful news about what people are doing to animals.  I find myself totally depressed because I can't do anything about it!
So, just another friend checking in with why I haven't been posting much.
Hope you all are doing well and know that I keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
