I think this might not be the right place, but I didn't see this brand listed in the above section. I received a coupon for their food after I asked for samples due to this recall mess. I wondered if anyone had used it?

i have been using petpromise canned feline (chicken) formula for about 2-3 weeks.  i mix it with the california natural dry because i'm not particularly impressed with the petpromise dry formulas.  however, the canned is a huge hit and the ingredient list is pretty good.  all of the cans have looked alike once open and it smells pretty good (even though i'm a vegetarian  Cheesy) you have no trouble telling that there is chicken in the formula even though it is on the "smooth" side as far as consistency.   in my opinion, the customer service from these folks is some of the best out there.  i've called a couple of times and have been extremly pleased with the service i've received.  i did get coupons from them as well.  if you have any concerns i would encourage to give them a call and talk to them - i hope you will be pleased.  what i like about them is the fact that they really seem to have a handle on where their ingredients are coming from and they are supporting US farmers as well.  hope this helps some.

iIf the posts I'm reading have anything to do with what is happening across the country, we are doomed.  Pet Promise is known to be Purina.  You can find other alternatives that may cost more money, but is it here we are again?  Wanting the best for 'less money'.  Support Purina and keep those pockets full.  All the ya ya about boycotts and voting with wallets, yeah right.  Back to usual I guess?

tracy,

your comments really don't help - in fact they are quite hurtful.  there are lots of us out there that are really trying to do the right thing by our pets.  we shouldn't have to have a degree in chemistry, a phd in nutrition or conduct a background check to see whose pockets are getting full by the choices we make.  i'm trying my best to make good decisions for my pets; i'm sure you are too.  i for one am tired, worn out and still scared to death over this - let's not make it any worse on each other than we have to.
i pray that this will come to an end and we can be free from this nightmare.

doesn't take a phd or knowing about nutrition to know who the big companies are - I just cast my vote for the smaller companies like Innova or Natures Variety that are more the small guys doing business - I still believe part of this whole recall mess started with corporate greed and if we keep feeding them they just grow bigger - both Innova and Natures Variety have great product lines and have better supplementation overall for dogs or cats - supporting Pet Promise is supporting Purina = big company = greed

Natura Pet Products (verified with company 3/24/07, 5/11/07)

Brands include Innova, Evo, California Natural, Healthwise, Mother Nature, Karma Organic
Manufacture their own dry food, using their own formulas
They use only US suppliers - no ingredients come from China or other foreign countries.
They use no corn or wheat products (including wheat gluten)
Wet foods made by Menu Foods (S. Dakota plant) but not involved in the recall.
All Natura products have been tested for melamine contamination and all tests confirmed no melamine in our foods. (from website 5/11/07)

this is from this site, another place on it, thepetfoodlist.com where you can see who makes what - its a good company and worth checking into - for canned people like them to buy local and evangers if they order canned food online - but these are smaller companies who aren't part of the greed stuff  - something like over 85% Huh?? of the pet food sold in america is from only like four or five companies - the rest is smaller places like natura, wellness, smaller places that are more mom and pop and  I've heard evangers is like sending out cases of canned food as samples might check that

i belive that innova and nature's variety canned foods are both made by menu - some people just do not feel comfortable with them right now.

back to the poster's question about petpromise -

i don't think you are feeding a bad food if you choose petpromise.  you might find better ingredients but i chose this as my canned option for other reasons as well.  you have to make a choice based on what's best for your pet and what you feel comfortable with.  please double check me on this but it is my understanding that all of the petpromise canned formulas are made in 1 plant only (dry is made in another location).  that is a + for me.  they have been very open when i've made inquiries about their products....that is another +.   i did mention a concern about the synthetic vit k; they have noted several calls about this and said they will take this into consideration. if anyone out there is using petpromise and have the same concern, please call them about removing this - they seem to be listening.  it's not stopping me from feeding this - i believe it is as safe as anything out there right now.

i wish you the best in making your decision.

The ingredients are good but I too am concerned about the synthetic vit. K.
I tried it for my cat but he didn't like any of the cannned and I didn't try the dry.
