Please redirect me to the appropriate thread if this subject has already been discussed in the past:

IS WET CAT FOOD ADDICTIVE?

Since my Samson discovered FANCY FEAST, he's been turning up his nose at more wholesome canned food varieties; I don't mind feeding him FF beef or turkey varieties w/ no wheat gluten; FF is also low on carbs and there are no fruits/veggies, but how high is its phosphorus level? AND I'm not exactly comfortable w/ the amount of by-products either...

Grin ...this is funny.  No, I don't think this has been discussed yet.  I use to have a cat that I would call wet food addicted...tuna being a favorite, which she only got as a treat, but expected it every day....boy, could she make a fuss!  Another cat was addicted to home cooked chicken.  The pet food companies are very happy to have your cat addicted to their food, of course.  Roll Eyes

I often wondered if there was anything addictive put in the cheaper pet foods.  My cat loves the cheap stuff (which I no longer give him since the recall) and turns his nose up at the expensive cat food.  I keep telling him, "Look, this little can cost me $1.50.  Either quit wasting food or get a job and buy what you want!"  (So far he continues to sleep on  the couch and yawn when I discuss his possible employment)  I am, I believe, addicted to Starbucks and can no longer stomache Folgers.
