Where did you get that info? I am quite concerned since I feed Serengeti.

Alek0,

I just read something similar on Itchmo blog today under Lick Your Chops Recall heading that Timberwolf Organics most likely used that plant for dry food, as that info had been posted in Itchmo and other blogs previously. I don't have proof, though.

I heard the same thing about timberwolf... about 4 weeks ago when i decided to switch my dogs, cats & ferrets to Innova EVO with no grains Smiley I contacted timberwolf organics (phone) and they wouldnt say if they did or didnt have anything to do with chenango Valley... which to me brought up a big RED flag... I just felt like they were hiding something and it just didnt see right to me...

This is sooooo frustrating. My cats are doing great on Serengeti, but I am really nto comfortable with all this secrecy. Pretty stupid actualy, they'll be losing a lot more customers this way with all the rumors floating around.

Now the question is what grain free food I can substitute for it? What do you guys think? Nature's Variety freeze-dried or Stella&Chewy's freeze dried? I have both at home, but haven't been using tem since I have several bags of Serengeti with the same expiry date that I have been using before with no problem.

Now I am still afraid to introduce anything new, and also afraid to continue feeding serengeti even though I've seen no problem with this batch. Although dry food is just supplementation, not sure how would it work out if they were eating more of it.

I was just about to purchase a Timberwolf Organics formula last week when I was deciding which food company to go with.  Truthfully, I decided against it only due to their manufacturing.  I decided that I needed a company that manufacures and produces their own food, and no one elses.  That doesn't guarantee anything but at least it narrows the risks...
too bad Timberowolf isn't more open about their manufacturing... it seems like a really good food...  and I agree with the post about maybe loosing customers due to thier secrecy

I googled Timberwolf + Chenango and came upon another dog forum with a lot of discussion of TWO and Chenango. Chris from TWO gave his reason for not revealing manufacturer's name which sounded plausible to me. Protecting the integrity of their ingredients, etc. Anyway, regardless of whether Chenango manufactures it or not, batches were tested NEGATIVE for melamine. Would be nice, though, if they put that information up on their website.

I agree that would be good... they barely have any info on the recall situation.

Right now I just can't trust a company that won't be straightforward about something as basic as where their food is made. It is sad, because the food is good, but I just don't feel comfortable with their attitude. Undecided

It may be in their contract with the manufacturer that they can't disclose where their food is made.  Not saying it's right, but there may be a legal reason why they can't disclose.

I gotta hold  off feeding the 2 bags of serengeti . I am feeding instead the California Naturals. The mystery needs to stop with Timberwolf. Give us the straight up.

I had called TW to ask if they could put on their site that the manufacturer had no recalls. Instead they put that they used to use Diamond but switched. Seems to me that means Chenango.

lesliek,
I'm sorry, but I don't follow the logic.
How does NOT made by Diamond  = made by Chenango? Huh
I mean, it has said NOT MADE by Diamond since March 16th. (Or at least as long as I have been looking.) Cool
