Hi, I feed my dog Wellness Lamb dry and Lamb and Sweet potato wet and duck and sweet potato wet. His blood test came back normal today!! My CRF cats were switched to Wellness Dry for indoor cats and Wellness Chicken and Herring wet. They look better, their pee smells less strong and in smaller amounts, and they have gained a bit of weight. Overall way less sickly. They were on Hills Prescription K/D wet and dry.
I took them off of that after all of the recalls. I'm glad I did. They seem a lot healthier. Just wanted to share.

Just an update. My dog and cats are still doing great on Wellness. No more puking by the cats and the dog still eats his. Everyone's fur is looking great and their energy is up.

I figured out that the Wellness Core Dry for cats has really high phosphorus so that won't work for my ARF cat.  Too bad, I liked the ingredients.

Yes, the Wellness Core does have higher Phosphorus content, but the Wellness Indoor is relatively low (0.78%).   The next lowest for Wellness dry is the Wellness Salmon (.93%)

KimS,
What ratio of dry to wet do your CRF cats get? My cats have some kidney issues (but have never been diagnosed as CRF). They are currently on Hill's G/D, but I'm not all that comfortable with feeding this and have been looking for an alternative. I've already been mixing some Wellness Indoor Dry in.

Thanks!

Hi, I free feed my cats Wellness Indoors dry. They nibble on it but aren't hogs about it. I don't always refill it when it's gone.
Then at night they get a big spoonful of Wellness chicken and herring or turkey and salmon wet.
And lots and lots of fresh water. Good luck to you!!

My Angel Dylan was euthanized due to Menu Foods greediness.  I am trying to assist  daughter who has a 7 year old indoor cat.  I have read both pros and cons on Wellness, if i understand correctly they do/have had used Menu Foods for processing their food and also the food contains the concentrate (sorry, I have am not updated on the food, since I no longer have my kitty).  She needs to buy commerical food. She was feeding her kitty Blue Buffalo.  Am I asssuming this food is ok.  I also read the post regard. high phos, so I'm thinking she should get the Wellness Indoors dry.  Also she mentioned EVO.  Thanks for your help.  Hugs to you all and your fur babies

I'm not positive but I think the Wellness dry food is made by someone other than Menu. The wet food is Menu.
My cats like the Wellness indoors dry.

Hi Angel, I'm so sorry to hear you lost your cat due to the recalls. I hope you and your daughter can keep her cat safe!

I'm not sure who makes Wellness dry foods, but I do know it's not Menu as they only make wet foods.

Blue Buffalo did have a recall but they've removed the info from their website. It's on the FDA site though. You'll find it here.

Natura California Natural is another dry food worth looking at. Mine's done well on it for several months now. Menu makes their wet, but not their dry.

Hold off on Cal Natural for a while. I've heard some anecdotal complaints.

I have had absolutely no problems with Cal Natural.  If paranoia took over with every anecdotal complaint out their, our pets would starve, unless we fed them homemade, and even then,  cats might throw up.  That's what cats do sometimes...hairballs, eating too fast, etc.  That's not to say that in the future something might not be found wrong with any and every food, but pets get sick for other reasons too, and in light of the recent events it's so easy to suspect the food.  I don't trust any food completely.  The latest report is that Innova is tainted (same company that makes Cal Natural).  I don't know what to think anymore, but I'm not taking my cat off of a food that he has done so well until there is more evidence, because for me, his condition tells me otherwise...at least for now.

Davis, it is hard to know what to do.  I just moved my IBD cat over to Innova canned the last week or so - and he loves it and is doing really well.  My other two cats have started to eat it as well in addition to their Wellness.  They seem to also like it and doing well - seems to fill them up more than the Wellness since the biggest cat seemed to be more hungry when he was all Wellness.

I agree with you Davis,
You have to be wise and go by your own experiences.
I stuck with Wellness after hearing a lot about their Menu connection. I had to feed my little ones.

I had been adding Innova for my cats evening meal for the last week or so.  My two big cats didn't finish their meal tonight.  I was curious if they just didn't like the food - or if it really was more filling.  Well, certainly not a scientific experiment, but I pulled out a can of Wellness Turkey to split between the two and they gobbled it up.

So, since Innova has not answered my questions yet about the nutritional analysis for that food that just doesn't 'add up', I think my two big cats will be back to Wellness 100 % - maybe some EVO mixed in.

For my IBD cat I'll leave well enough alone for now and leave him on the Innova at least for a little while longer.
