"Natural" Advertising campaigns from junk brands have launched. See Purina "Natural Food" & another that I think was called something like "the Good Life".

Maybe this stuff is real, but somehow i think i have a better chance of winning the lottery then any hope these campaigns are truthful.

"all of the real food with none of the additives, etc......"

First Madison ave f's us by killing our pets. Then at Am Nut for one won't pay the full bill, then....  Let's Make a Profit Starring Bob Barker!

I hope quoting  a song lyric doesn't violate too many copyrights:

Feast Of Fools
by Bruce Cockburn

 At the feast of fools
Humour can sometimes be cruel
But under certain conditions
You have to forget the rules

At the feast of fools
Everybody has a voice
Nobody goes to the bottom
Except by their own choice

It's time for the silent criers to be held in love
It's time for the ones who dig graves for them to get that final shove
It's time for the horizons of the universe to be glimpsed even by the faceless kings of corporations
It's time for chaos to win and walk off with the prize which turns out to be nothing

At the feast of fools
Outlaws can all come home
You can wear any disguise you want
But you'll be naked past the bone

At the feast of fools
People's hands weave light
There is a diamond wind
Flowering in the darkest night

It's time for the silent criers to be held in love
It's time for the ones who dig graves for them to get that final shove
It's time for the horizons of the universe to be glimpsed even by the faceless kings of corporations
It's time for chaos to win and walk off with the prize which turns out to be (a big fat) nothing.

It's time for the singers of songs without hope to take a hard look and start from scratch again
It's time for these headlights racing against inescapable dark to be just forgotten
It's time for Harlequin to leap out of the future into the midst of a world of dancers
It's time for us all to stand hushed in the cathedral of silence waiting at the river's end.

Geff, That is hauntingly beautiful. Thanks for posting it. We will just keep following up on the "new trends" and holding them accountable to their words. As always, many companies won't want to do their homework and try the easy way out. But we are here watching them! As a poster on Itchmo stated, (when) "Pet Food lies, we don't buy".

PS: How are your eyes doing? Hope all is well!

Thank you for asking. Very slow recovery, apparently as expected. I can see light in the repaired eye (a good thing, but still really blurry (a scary thing). & am also still feeling really weak, which is becoming worst of all. Found out nausea is supposed to be a dide effect of both the surgery & one of my medications. Makes it challenging to work.

I've been concerned about your eye Geff, and I'm hoping you get the very best outcome from your surgery. Best wishes for a great recovery. And I'm glad that your cat is taking such good care of you. Wink  Thanks for posting the lyrics.

Geff, hope you'll recover soon!

As for the disturbing (and alas not that new) trend, it is quite common. Just look at how many products (an not only pet food!) have "Nature" or "Natural" in the name or the blurb on the front of the package, and when you look at the ingredients it is anything but.

Look at Hill's Nature's best or whatever it is called. With real fish! As opposed to what? Fake fish? Or brewer's rice and corn gluten meal, two first ingredients of the food made with "highest quality ingredients found in nature". Blech.
