I went to buy some Avoderm tonight and noticed that they have changed their ingrediants, they have increased the grain and lowered the meat....also now the Lamb is extruded and no longer baked....I was highly dissapointed as I had just started using this food , the change isn't on the website last time I looked I just noticed new bags and like always checked them list and saw it was a big time cheaper change, no change in cost of food to me, its like $43 for 35 or 30 poundsnot a cheap food but now has the ingrediants of one.

My pet food store has recently started carrying the Breeders Choice products.  I picked up some sample dry cat food today, but haven't tested it yet.  My cats only like chicken flavors--any hint of fish smell and they won't touch it, for example Wellness Core.  Any thoughts on the Avoderm dry foods?

Also saw on their website that they have wet cat food.  I was especially interested in their cuts and gravy variety--my older cat hates the loaf foods.  I know they are made by Menu but so is Natura and everyone seems to be using it anyway.  Has anybody tried their canned?

The breeder choice line was bought out by Central Garden and pet.

Just like nutro was bought out by Bain.

Anytime you see those buyouts, the product goes down in quality the marketing and packagaing gets nicer and the product being cheapened happened.  I am just leery of the breeders choice line like avoderm with that buy out.

That is what hacks me off about buying dog food.  Unless you google the name of the company and then the word acquisition it is hard to keep track of.  We think we are buying the same old nutro or avoderm and I see the label changes already.  Althought they did a pretty job on the new avoderm packaging.  These bigger companies put the money there and cheapen the product it seems.

Thanks for your reply Tracy.  I had no idea about the buy out.  I guess I can mark this one off my list.

The "cuts and gravy" is pouch-style, not canned. And, it is entirely MADE IN CHINA. Not just a few ingredients...THE ENTIRE THING.

Just wanted to bring this thread up to date. I was not aware of any pouch foods being made by this company unless they have recently discontinued producing them. The buyout occurred in February of 2006. Here is some information regarding it.        http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=93879&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=820929&highlight
