I haven't received the Honest Kitchen food yet, but I'll let you know when I do. And I think my cats are starting to take to the KumpiKat a bit more now.

Also, this may sound like a weird question, but those of you who feed KumpiKat, do your cats poop less than they used to?

Thanks!

LOL! Luckily, I don't have to deal with that area of cat care, but I'll ask my hubby when he gets home and get back to you.

mshomo,
I got the Honest Kitchen and opened the bag. All the cats seem really interested in the dry product, but once I mixed it and gave it to them, they all gave it a sniff and walked away. Shoot! I'm not giving up yet, though.

eternaljester81,

I asked my hubby about the cats and he said they seem to be going about the same amount. But....my husband, is not the type to pay much attention to that. To him it's just something he does as a regular chore. I wouldn't take his statement as gospel. Wink My cats aren't eating as much as they used to, so I question if they are going as much. They must be eating enough to be satisfied. If they weren't, my female would let me know for sure. She's very vocal if she's hungry!

Another little report on the KumpiKat... I sat the bowl up on a counter today because my daughter had her dog over to visit. After they left, I noticed my male cat standing at the counter s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g his body as far as he could, and reaching with his paw for something on the counter. I wondered what in the world he was trying to get to. Then I realized, he was trying to get his food! I had forgotten I put it up there. I took that as a good sign. He was working very hard to get to his KumpiKat!

Sorry to hear your cats are giving you a hard time about the Honest Kitchen. Don't give up, we all know what they walk away from one day they may happily eat another day. Mine were snobby about the baby food, but I decided to try it again this morning. The male walked away and the female ate both of their plates. Tomorrow it may be the other way around. They drive me crazy sometimes! They have me very well trained. I expect soon the other cats in the neighborhood may hire them to train their owners too. Undecided

Just walked in and opened my first delivery of Kumpikat.  Question (and i'm sorry if this was
already discussed and I just missed it) I could not find an expiration date or lot number on the
bag (I looked at every inch about 3 times).  How will they know, hypothetically speaking, if
there's an issue with the food when each one was made?  That seems odd to me.

That's just my opinion.  Here's how my cat's reacted to Kumpikat:  Before I even fully opened the silver bag they were both up on the desk trying to smell the bag.  Once I did open it a crack my male cat, Bix, put his whole head in! ha ha.  I poured some out and the 2 cats share one kibble dish and they were actually pushing each other out of the way to eat it.  I would rate their enthusiasm and appetite towards the food as a 10 out of 10.

So does anyone know about the expiration/lot/tracking info not being on the bag?  Perhaps Evy will see
this and post.

Now, no offense, but I also just got an order of Felidae in.  Let's see how that goes.

Kumpikat vs. Felidae

Bix, the male cat, walked up to the Felidae, took two bites and turned around and went to the
dish with the Kumpikat.  Lola showed the same enthusiasm and appetite towards the Felidae as
she did Kumpikat.  She stayed at the Felidae dish while Bix ate the Kumpi.  I think it's clear I need
to buy a second bowl and they'll stick to their favorites.

Bixlo, I use the dog food, and the exp date and lot codes are on the back of the bag, right near the top.

Tommyboy,

I know i'm not blind, still, I went back and checked again and there is absolutely
nothing printed on my bag besides the front and back stickers with the name
and ingredients.  Maybe I got a bag that escaped the encoder?

Bixlo, you aren't going blind!!

lol

Sorry, the volume that we've done has been so low and sold mostly in local stores,
they have the current product to refer to for exp. date.  The food you received was
made in January of this year.  I am adding printing up labels for those to my 'list
of things to do'.....I'm just feeling all accomplished that in the next 24 - 48 hours
I will be offering a 'secure site' for the cat and dog food both.

Hugs 'n sorry!!

Okay, I thought it was just a fluke.  Well, one day later and it's unanimous, the Kumpikat
wins over the Felidae dry.  The female, Lola, will nibble a little of the Felidae but both cats go
back to the Kumpikat.  And as much as they like it they aren't spending as long as they used to
at the feeding bowl (I free feed).

Thanks Evy!

Yippy Skippy  Grin

I love your picture of your kitty btw!

And just a little thought - when I feed my Tonga kitty grrrl, I usually use a spoon and 'roll' the food a bit and re-energize the fats and freshen up what I'm serving her just a bit.  Her royal kittiness is currently on her new bed next to my monitor lol.

Anyways, glad to read your post and by Monday we'll have all of the four pound bags labeled from now on!

I ordered my KumpiKat today and I can hardly wait till it gets here.  It sounds like a wonderful food except for the high carbs thing.  We are already a couple of pounds overweight  Sad  Meanwhile, we are just doing a mix of anything she'll eat that's safe.  I think I will try the baby food idea with the Honest Kitchen I have because she wouldn't touch that--by itself or mixed in a food she liked.

I'm a little worried that my cats might like Kumpikat too much or that
there is something else wrong.  I thought with this food they were supposed
to eat less of it because they get full faster!

I free feed both of them and have been for the last 7 years (sicne they were
kittens) but with Kumpikat I find myself filling up the dish constantly and in
a week and a half I am down to half a 4lb bag.  I know I shouldn't be feeding
them freely like this but I haven't been able to get them into a routine of once
or twice a day.  I try but I know I haven't tried hard enough.  The vet told me the male, Bix, should weigh about 18 lbs and the female 16lbs or so.  They're large cats.. tall and long.. probably a mix of Norwegian Forest Cat or Maine Coon with the DSH thrown in for the shorter fur.  But as of right now the male weighs 21 lbs and the female 19lbs.  So they are about 3 lbs over their weight and I recall someone said that the Kumpikat is high in carbs so i'm not sure what I should do.

Any tips on how to stop/ween off free feeding?  I know i'll have a problem because
i've tried it in the past and they were not happy - but they'll be less happy with diabetes so I need some tips/help.

I also free feed KumpiKat and my cats are eating a little less than they used to. It's not a huge difference, but they certainly aren't eating more. I guess your cats must really like KumpiKat.
