Please help!  I just pulled this from fda.gov:

"The company is presently investigating the source of the contamination in conjunction with its contract manufacturer, Chenango Valley Pet Food."

Is Back to Basics affected?

I see he hasn't answered yet. I am also concerned because my granddog eats B2B. (I don't feed it anymore because my shelties don't do well on corn.) However, Chenango seems to be having a track problem as of late. Please see Dr. F&S new recall on their website. No rice protein concentrate in the formula, but batch followed a run (possible cross-contamination) of another melamine "infected" formula. Don't know if that's "kudos" for Dr. F&S or bad for Chenango. Wish I knew the answer as well.

Hey everyone,

Sorry for my absence lately. We're in the midst of updating a lot of the graphics, etc. for our website, brochures, and misc marketing materials... I'm tied well in with our artistic direction so my time's been pretty monopolized lately.

Back to Basics is not affected by the recent recalls of SmartPak and Dr. Fosters and Smith... Our product is ran on seperate lines and so there is no risk of cross-contamination.

As I've mentioned in previous posts, we've had our food tested as a precautionary measure and all tests have proven negative for contamination. Our food is ran on different machinery out of a necessity that preceeds the recall, we run b2b seperately because we export to the Pacific Rim and the countries we ship to test for "Residual Ruminants"... therefore our product cannot be ran on the same machinery as any product that uses Beef or Lamb... this excludes us from any risk of cross contamination with the 2 brands that were affected at CVPF.

Why is Back-to-Basics dry dog food so greasy?  I've never seen a food give off so much grease that it soaks into your pocket (keep some there for treats) and you have to wash your hands with hot water and soap to cut the grease after you handle it? 

Is it sprayed with grease?  If so, what ingredients are in the grease?
