Hello, I was recently turned on to this forum because of the current pet food issues.   Angry So what does everyone feed? Its seems no food is good, darn I'm wondering if this fiasco will spill into the people side too!  Undecided

Hi Francisco!!

Unfortunately...it allready has although I suspect it has been...in some form...been going on for awhile!.... Cry

As for what to feed?.....I wish I could tell you...At this point, I don't trust the PFI and would be remiss to suggest ANYTHING on storeshelves!

But...that's just me (btw, I home-cook right now, and will probably continue to do so from now on).....Check out the "foods NOT recalled" list and just do some research till you find something that your pets will eat and that you are comfortable with.

Best wishes.......and welcome to the Forum! Hope you learn as much info as I have in the last 2 months or so.........I really had NO IDEA!!!....I am so glad I did...and my pets will be healthier for it too!!..... Cool

Good luck!!!

You will!!!...... Grin

I see on another thread that you are feeding your dogs Canidae and you don't seem to have any problems....so far anyways!

I've actually seen some positive comments on that brand.....so that's great! Keep up the research though I suspect you know a little more than you let on since you've been feeding this particular brand for quite awhile!

What kind of dogs do you have and what was it about Canidae that appealed to you? Sharing info like this could be of great help to someone else....just a thought!

If you can't guess, I have labs.  Grin

I like to think I know a little about pet nutrition.  Undecided But who really knows these days.

I was turned onto Canidae by my local pet store.  It came highly recommended. Before that I fed, in no particular order; Matrix, California Natural, Innova, Solid gold and A.P.D L&R.  IMHO all decent foods.  My favorite was Matrix, I can't seem to find it any more.  Sad

Well Francisco......

You are definitely A LOT more informed about pet nutrition than I was coming into this!!!

And although what I WAS feeding my dogs has not as yet been recalled.....I learned about ingredients more in depth.....seen that what I WAS feeding them is CRAPOLA....and didn't want my dogs ingesting it...or anything like it...EVER AGAIN!!!

I'm very slowly, incorporating more raw meat into their diet (lotsa' research went into that move before I started the raw phase) and decreasing the grains....not totally removing them...just decreasing them. I have a lot of help from their Vet....as well as a great butcher accross the road whom I've trusted for about 11 yrs. now!

Believe me.....I feel lucky too! Lucky to have the chance to feed my dogs a more nutritious diet..before going out to get another "bag o" crap"....to replace the one that was almost empty!!........... Shocked

FranciscoLABS, from one lab owner to another (I have 2 "yaller" labs), welcome! Smiley

I just started feeding Canidae dry to my labs.  So far so good and they do seem to love it.  Actually, they don't eat it, they inhale it, LOL.  If you haven't seen it already, I left a message in the Canidae Pied Piper discussion thread you may want to read.

Sure hope Canidae does remain one of the safe foods.  In the meantime, I've begun trying out home cooking to add to their kibble, just in case.  You know how hungry labs get, so I'm trying to be prepared!
