Natural Balance Venison & Green Pea cat food

This topic has drifted away a bit, but I wonder if anyone ever got a satisfactory response to what that rice protein concentrate was doing in a non-grain cat food.  I emailed them twice and got back canned answers that never addressed the discrepancy. At this point I have washed my hands of them reluctantly, as my special-needs cat really liked the food.  Does anyone have something that addresses this?

I'm pretty sure I read in one of the forums somewhere that NB claimed that Diamond added the RP without NB's knowledge.

Yes, that's vague, but I've been reading way too posts in way too many forums the last month!

From NB's website:
Our canned food manufacturer, American Nutrition, from Ogden Utah, just informed us that they are recalling all canned products made in their plant that contain rice protein concentrate. American Nutrition continued by telling us that they added this ingredient  to four of our canned products without our knowledge or consent.  The four products involved are:

Chicken Formula Canned Dog Food 13 oz
Lamb Formula Canned Dog Food 13 oz
Beef Formula Canned Dog Food 13 oz
Ocean Fish Formula Canned Cat Food 3 oz & 6 oz

BUT, and it's a big but, the following products have RPC as part of the recipe!
Venison and Brown Rice Dry Dog Formula
Venison and Brown Rice Canned Dog Food
Venison & Brown Rice Formula Dog Treats
Venison and Green Pea Dry Cat Formula
