We tried a can of Solid Gold Chicken, Turkey, White Fish & Liver, and although the cat liked it (probably because it smells fishy), I won't be buying any more of it.  When I prodded around with a fork, I found a fair amount of gristle and other unidentifiable bits. Now I know that cats will eat whole animals (including all of the parts that humans won't), and I'm not squeemish about that, but this stuff just didn't seem right.

Additionally, my local pet food store (actually local, not chain or big box) recently said they were not going to carry Solid Gold anymore due to "losing trust" in the company (they said the exact same thing about Felidae/Canidae too). Just the opinion of one store owner/manager, but based on my experience I tend to agree.

I picked up some of the same and all my cats loved it and I didn't see anything wrong with it.   I gave it to a mom with 4 kittens I am fostering plus my seniors too and they all gave it a thumbs up.    I have tried some of the canned tuna food in the past and thought it was too watery for the high price, but I liked the consistency of the chicken/turkey/fish.   I also like that it is not made by Menu foods, it is made by the company that makes the Merrick food.

I tried it for a couple of days and then realized it is too high in calories for two of my cats.  Otherwise, seemed like really good food.

Yeah, I had heard nothing but good things about Solid Gold, and that's why I tried it, plus I really like the fact that it isn't made by Menu, but I wasn't impressed with the can I got.

Although, I do have some reservations about Merrick too.

Solid Gold Blended Tuna canned cat food is my Kaffe's "comfort food."  It is quite high in calories so I give it to him only as a sometime treat or when he is having one of his rolling skin episodes.  He absolutely love this stuff.  It is also nice that thise food seems to have been minimally processed as seen by the large chunks of real tuna in it - just like people tuna, you know.  I wouldn't feed it day in day out though.  A big negative is the presence of menadione.  Called Solid Gold about that and their nutritionist told me that they will be removing the offensive ingredient just as soon as the find a suitable replacement.  I asked, "What about vitamin K or K1?  Other pet foods use that now."  She just said that they ARE looking into that now.

I feed the Solid Gold Blended Tuna to my kitties just as an ocassional treat. It still has the menadione in it but since they eat it so rarely I am not overly concerned about it. I personally would not feed it on a daily basis.  One thing about the Blended Tuna is that most kitties seem to love it and it is great to use for getting an ill cat to eat or for administering supplements and/or meds as I have done this in the past.
