My mother was feeding this to her 6 yr old boxer over the fall based on a recommendation from the pet food store. In October she was diagnosed with lymphoma and died one month later. Seeing how Evolve is not responding to Terese's inquiries, I'm getting suspicious. Now my mother didn't ask the vet a lot of questions, because she could see the dog was having trouble breathing and had lumps and swollen glands. And her vet is very "old school". But I can't help but wonder if there was something bad in the food.

Evolve is a Triumph brand. And, Triumph was recently added to Menu's recall list due to cross-contamination. Yet, they still post that none of their foods are recalled on their website!!! Combined with Therese's difficulty getting info, I would avoid ALL Triumph brands: Triumph, Evolve, and Hi-Tor.

I also posted that info in the Triumph thread I created. I'm hoping Therese creates a Triumph sub-forum in the brands forum above, and adds this info. I also suggested she update the Triumph/Eveolve/Hi-Tor info on The Pet Food List, as well.

I forget--I have read so much that I am getting confused. I just bought 2 cans of EVOLVE----Turkey Formula.     Wasn't the cross contamination involved in the vats containing  wheat/corn gluten?   I see that these cans do not contain any by-products or grains.
Lordy, I am about to lose my mind.    Here I finally found a canned food that the cats seemed to like.

I tried emailing them myself and the emails were just bounced.  I'm staying away from them

Kathleen - I'm not sure abouit Evolve brended foods. But, Evolve is a Triumph brand, and Tirumph has had a few canned varieties recalled recently by Menu due to worries over cross-contamination.

However, if you go to the Triumph website, it states that no Triumph foods have been recalled. They are, of course, stunningly full of shit, and entirely untrustworthy because of it.

Combine that fact with the fact that emails get bounced back, one of their phone numbers appears to be out of service according to Therese, and the fact that they never respond to anybody's questions about their products, and I'd say they are about as trustworthy as anybody on Dick Cheney's staff. (Plus, it's made by Menu.)

I wouldn't feed a Triumph product, including Evolve and Hi-Tor, to my worst enemy's pet.

So, help (one of you cat lovers out there).  What brand of canned food are you using?  For one of my cats, I feed Pet Guard (Dry) for Cats and Kittens (Premium chicken, I think).   Huh

Welcome BJ.  It is confusing, isn't it?  I think if you browse around this forum you will find the answers to your question, and you will also find that not eveyone agrees on the foods.  There is no one particular food that everyone thinks is the best and the safest.  And all pets have different needs too.  For canned, I think Gary feeds Merrick, and other members like brands such as Orijen and Evangers.  Some prefer raw pet foods, and others are feeding human meats and homemade meals to their pets.  For dry, most of us feel safest with one of the lines from Natura, such as Innova or California Natural.  Good luck finding one that you feel comfortable with.  This forum is a wealth of information, and if you stick around and get involved in the discussions, you will find some helpful answers.

As for Evolve, I would also avoid anything and everything connected to them, for the same reasons that Gary mentions, but that's just me.

BJ - For canned food, I've been using Merrick Pot Pie, Thanksgiving Dinner, and Turducken. My cats really like them. They look pretty good, as well, with visible chunks of meat and veggies.

(But, don't buy directly from them. Too expensive. See if it's available locally. Much cheaper that way.)

Also, I've temporarily switched to Innova Lite canned, due to my younger cat's fat tummy. It will probably only be temporary, I hope, until she loses the weight. (It is made by Menu, which bothers me. But, Natura has made assurances that they have an employee onsite, only purchase ingredients domestically, and they test every batch for melamine and cyanuric acid. However, I still don't any of my money going to menu.)

As for dry, I've been using Califonia Natural Chicken and Rice. I've been happy. But, one of my cats is a little pudgy, and the other is almost 9 years old. So, I decided to try Innova Senior dry which should be good for the old boy's age and the young girl's pudge.
