Very cool. How is the Canadian government handling this compared tio the US? I have a belief that your government is kinder & gentler then ours; don't know if I'm right though.

It requires ACTION on the part of everyone you know who has a cat or dog.

This is a battle against the big money of the pet food companies.

Right on catgirl!!!!

Thanks for putting up that link! I suspect that is the same site as the addy that I put up earlier (I'm not too savvy with computers!).

When I'm home alone without the benefit of my husband or son's assistance, I make "boo-boos" all the time!.... Embarrassed....so once again, thanks for the correction!

I hope a lot of folks will check it out, as, Media hasn't been too great here in Toronto in their coverage...just little bits here and there!

Just yesterday, I e-mailed the TV stations here (AGAIN!!!).....to let them know about the Forum and asked them if they would PLEASE provide the information during their up-coming broadcasts to let the Public know about it.

Take care everyone!!!...... Grin

I forgot to address Geff's question when I last posted.

Geff.....the Canadian Government (imho) has been really dragging their feet on this developing story. I suspect it has a lot to do with financial reasons as there are really great reporters here...and if I can research alls this and find out info, surely they have the info!!!!!

I only wish that more people would make their voices heard here as they do in the USA....unfortunately a lot of people here (in T.O.) seem so complacent....but on top of that, ill-informed due to the Media's lax in covering it.

When I go out with my petition and flyers...I like to target the University students (who are always on computers!) and I like to go to the shopping Malls...kinda' like the Salvation Army at Christmas time!!!.....So many people thinks it's over and done with....that's the bottom line.....that has been MY experience anyways.

Hi!

I'm one of the moderators of the pet food campaign site.  First of all, I want to thank those of you who have been spreading the word, writing letters etc for your support.

I just wanted to clarify, that for the pet nutrition forum, you will need to register.  As stated on the poster, space is limited, so make sure you call the number provided to register for your spot.

Thanks,
Mel

Hi Mel!!!!.....

Thanks for posting that!!.....I've been so busy printing that 1st page out and passing it out as well as pinning it up (wherever I can).....that I never noticed that I had to phone first.

Thank-you so much....as I have lots of filled out "pet" ition sheets that I'd like to "personally" present when I go there!

Nice to see you on this Forum BTW!

Oh!.....Has anyone from "the petfoodcampaign" contacted the TV Networks to let the public know about the meeting? I know on City TV for instance, they have a kazillion upcoming events showing on their "city pulse" screen....but not this event.

I have contacted them (very politely I might add) to let them know about it...on several occasions, but have yet to see it shown.

Once again,....thanks for the "phone" info......I'm gonna' call RIGHT NOW!!!!

Hi willyagogo.

we aren't the ones organizing the forum, but I'm pretty sure the standard press releases will/have been done to media.  It's coming out of the MPP's office.  I'll check with the person to see what's been done.  It certainly doesn't hurt to have other people email them though, I'm sure.  Shows the public's interest.  I modified the blog post to reflect the need to register...that was my oversight.

have you noticed we have a poster to advertise the petfoodcampaign too?  It would be great if people could post those up too: http://petfoodcampaign.tripod.com/petfoodregulationposter.pdf
we're getting decent coverage, but we can use every bit of PR we can get!

Hi Mel....

I have been printing up those as well as:

***The Community Forum on Pet Nutrition (with Rosario & Olivia) page

***The "Join the Campaign" sheet with the web-site addy tear offs on bottom

***The  "Pet"ition sheets

The "Join the Campaign" sheets w/ tears offs I have been printing on to NEON coloured paper...so when I stick them up (laundry mats, poles, parks, stores etc..) they STAND out!!!!

The other sheets I pass out to people as I canvass for signatures on the petition forms that I printed out. A lot of times, I take my 2 Shelties with me, as they are so adorable....you know they have those really quizzical faces that people just find so hard to resist (marketing strategy 101!).....plus it's great exercise for all of us!!

Oh...and I can't forget, I have some friends helping out when they can too....I also told my son that he should try and get some girls to get signatures (I told him girls will love him when they see that he's sticking up for the rights of animals!)

So, I arm him with flyers and petition forms to take to his high-school!! It works, as he's allready brought home a few filled out petition forms!!!.....and I'm sure the girls WILL keep their eyes on him too!..... Wink

BTW....is there a forum at your web-site? If so, how do I get there? Haven't been able to find one as yet....mind you with MY computer skills...... Embarrassed

Thanks Mel!

it's awesome to hear others like you are helping out.

The site is actually just done on a blogsite, so no forum, but you can post a comment; links are at the bottom of each post and there's a link to email us on the upper right of the page.  We are limited in resources and time, so we really had to consider the scope we could manage. We didn't want to reinvent what was already out there (i.e. Itchmo, howl911, other forums) so we provided the links and are concentrating on the main task of spreading the word and getting people to write, and putting up posts when there's something of interest in the news.

I'm really looking forward to the pet nutrition forum as I credit Dr. Hodgkins with saving my cat's life  - she was diagnosed with diabetes a year ago and was not much better than dead last summer until I found Dr. H's website www.yourdiabeticcat.com and started her insulin protocol.

It would be interesting if those people in TORONTO on this list  who will be attending this forum could have some way of  identifying each other. It would be nice to put a face to all this messaging that has gone on for such a long time. Any ideas?

Kathleen...

Hi!...How's your baby doing? Was the Holistic Vet helpful?

Anyways....to answer your post.....maybe this will sound silly, idk.....but maybe we could PM each other....those who identify that they will be attending that forum....and make plans to meet at a coffee shop or something that's nearby the forum...say, an hour or so B4 the forum is to start...and we can all meet that way!!

I would love to meet you all!!...That would be awesome!!!.... Grin
