Thanks again to all of my new friends & your caring. In a nutshell - THe surgery was MUCH more serious than i had believed. We won't know if it's a success for 4-8 weeks. Right now I'm dealing with a LOT of fear (but thankfully very little pain). The past 48 hours are likely the scariest of my 49 years. Normally I like living alone with kitty but right now I need people. One of the odd side effects is that my ability to spell has gone out the window; I'll try to remember to run posts through a spell checker!

I've heard a bit about the human food issues. Is the Chicken in Cal Nat likely safe for kitty7

BTW, sorry to hijack this thread!

Most doctors/hospitals/physical therapists nowadays can set you up with people who can come to your house to help you with specific things that you might need on a day to day basis.

Just call and ask Geff. You won't realize how much someone coming in and helping you will release a lot of these feeling you are having, until they starting helping you.

We are all thinking good thoughts and wishes for you Geff.  Smiley

... I live in the 4th (I think) biggest city in Washington state...

Hey Geff,  I don't really know which city is 4th largest, but I'm in Bellingham, and if you're anywhere around here let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

Hi Colin, thank you so much. I've gotten to be protective of some anonymity on line because i hare such a distrust of the Bushies & the loss of our civil liberties. I'm in Tacoma, quite a ways away.

Hi Lacy  - Thank you for asking Cheesy The pain isn't bad at all. I have MAJOR phobias about my eyes (putting in eye drops is a BIG deal to me), so I'm spending most of my time in terror (I'm emotionally around 3 years old at the moment) , but other then that............ It will be 6-8 weeks until we know if the eye was saved - This was a much more serious procedure that I thought. The good news is that I am seeing some light in the eye.

And thank God my beloved Furr Angel is healthy & here to take care of me. He seems to know Daddy is sick & he's being wonderful.

Yeah, I've got a pretty healthy distrust of Bush et al too, although my bigger issue with them is their staggering lack of competence. I accept the fact that in a democratic republic my elected officials may have an ideology different from mine, but I don't suffer incompetence well. This whole pet food mess happened because our food supply wasn't adequately monitored by the government agency charged with that very task. The responsibility for that failure sits with the Bush administration who diverted money from actually protecting us, to their Middle East misadventure (which is making us even less safe).

I don't normally like to go off on political tangents on message boards devoted to other topics, so that's the last I'll say about that... well... we'll see Grin

Anyway, take care of yourself.  I'm not a doctor, but seeing some light seems encouraging.

My kitties are now on herring & sweet potatoe. The carbs are irritating them both, but better than them getting sick. We must be able to have more trust in companies that can prove safe food.

Why not try the chicken and rice, instead? It has quite a bit less carbs. (27% vs. 40%)

Anything listed as an industrial solvent should send up red flags, don't you think? Shocked

Well, yeah. But, what does that have to do with this conversation?
