Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's the canned dog and cat foods.

Yeah, it's too bad too. Even before the recalls I wanted to get away from brands that use Menu due to Menu's mistreatment of animals in laboratories. Newman's was one of the first I tried (but the cat's reaction was so-so). Then when the recalls hit, the dirty secrets of the pet food industry came out - one of them being that if it's in a can, there's a pretty good chance it was made by Menu.

More questions...
I have been reading almost non stop about these recalls since the beginning, and also I have added a few things here and there.
Today as I was reading all the updates I find that  some posters saying Newmans Own petfood is being grouped together with the likes of Purina... Anyone know why that is?  I've heard loads of opinions on various foods, loads of "facts" from the companies themselves and trying to make a "safe" choice but this Newmans Own and Purina grouping is mind boggling.  I live in a very small community not many choices here, shipping costs are high and am testing products with alot of skeptism before i have food shipped in...
So..has anyone HEARD of what exactly is wrong with Newman's Own products.  I am feeding two dogs, 2 and  6 years,  25 and 50 lbs.
Thanks in Advance

Well, I don't think there's anything wrong with Newman's. It's not part of any recall, and the ingredient list is pretty good. Their canned food, however, is made by Menu which is something you may want to consider.

As for Newman's being in the same league as Purina... a side by side comparision of the ingredients would suggest otherwise.

It's my understanding Menu's organic food is manufactured on separate machinery in a different part of Menu's plant.  They also must follow regs to clean the machinery between batches.  Based on what I know about "Organic Certification" that would make sense.   You couldn't have it certified organic if it was "cross-contaminated" with non-organic food.

This is the brand I have switched to (along with Artemis) simply because of the melamine issue.  If the meat in the cans is "certified organic" I have more peace of mind that the chickens/turkeys/etc. didn't get fed melamine.

I'd prefer a food without grains, and not made by Menu.  But for now, this is what I'm going with when it comes to canned cat food.

Yes but have you noticed on the cans that the only ingredient that says organic is the actual first ingredient? The can of chicken & rice I have says, "organic chicken", but then none of the rest of the ingredients such as chicken liver, oat bran, etc  have "organic" in front of them which leads me to believe they're not.

Evangers has 2 good flavors with ALL organic ingredients. Even the guar gum is organic.
