Bea, unfortunately I don't know if anybody can say for a fact that anything is safe right now. The best any of us can do is to do our own research and eliminate foods we feel are not safe. Then narrow the list down to the point where there's a food left that you feel comfortable with.

Good luck with Kitty!

Yes, there are many foods out there still off the list.  I recommend doing your homework and asking your friends, family, forum goers and visit you local pet store.  MY local shop is very up to date with this recall.

IMHO, I wouldn't go raw unless you know exactlly what you are doing!  I tried it years ago and I got tried of cleaning my floors, if you know what I mean!

I'm feeding Canidae dry and Evanger's canned - and neither of them have hit the recall list  Grin!
Canidae - http://www.canidae.com/
Evanger's - http://www.evangersdogfood.com/

For those of you that favor raw, Evanger's offers 100% meat canned product - the only additive is water for processing.  Evanger's is a small manufacturing plant in Ill. and they do manufacture for other labels (I don't know who).

Currently I'm feeding their 100% meat product in fear of 'additives' showing up on the recall list.  My dogs love the Evanger's food, and any additives (minerals, vitamines, etc.) are coming from the Canidae dry food along with Missing Link.

If you can find Evanger's and you are use to buying premiun dog food (like I was), you will be put off by their label.  I have to admit I was.  I passed it by several times 'cause it has a funky label that makes it look like some cheap knock-off.  Thank goodness my feed store set me straight!  It's a premium canned food with a 1950's label and a reasonable price  Shocked

I was still stand-offish, check them out on-line and wrote emails to the company - I'm a believer now.  I switched from Canidea, Natural Balance and Wellness canned food just months before the recall - and thank goodness I did now that both Wellness and Natural Balance have hit the list.  If you can find Evanger's try it - my cost per can switch went from $1.70(US)/per can to $.89(US)/per can with the peace of mind that nothing but 100% meat is in the can - and now I have control of what additives are added to my 'kids' food.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

My son was telling me yesterday.....that an internet friend over in England lost their cat that morning because of eating tainted petfood!

My son of course asked her what she was feeding her cat......and the answer given to him was Royal Canin....not sure if it was wet or dry.

My son will be coming with me to the Forum on the 18th in Toronto......although he has been a great help to me....for some reason, this news about his friends cat, was a revelation.

I think he realizes...what his Mom has been so "obsessed" about the last month or so.......I think the 18th is going to be a real "eyeopener" for him!..... Shocked

My teenage sister has been feeding one of the Wellness dry cat varieities for the last few weeks with success. She switched from Friskies, said kittie's energy level has doubled (surprise!).

I have one cat that has been eating Felidae dry for almost 6 weeks, now. She refuses home-cooked so I chose this one, preferring not to widen my chances by switching around (and risking just one single exposure). So far I have had no problems; I continue to offer her home-cooked and she continues to demand this dry.

check out www.catinfo.org for tips on switching the dry-addicted cat.  It can be done with a lot of time and patience.

I had been feeding my two cats wellness for years, one who has CRF for the last 5 years, and they were thriving on it and loved it; however, once this whole pet food recall happened, I panicked and stopped both the wellness dry and canned b/c they are made by ANI(dry) and Menu(canned).  I switched to Nature's Logic dry--cat's like it, but my CRF cat has been throwing up everyday that she eats it(mostly hairballs), but she rarely threw up on wellness.  I like the concept behind Nature's Logic-no synthetic vitamins/minerals added, all derived naturally from food sources, but I think the protein level (38%) may be too high for my CRF cat---other cat is doing fine on it.  Since stopping wellness, I've been feeding my cats the following canned/wet foods: Halo(Spot's Stew), Honest Kitchen, Evangers & Merrick and honestly, I've been throwing more of it in the garbage, then they are eating.  So today, after several months off wellness, I decided to give them a can of wellness-beef & salmon and they were soo happy to have their old food back that they gobbled it all up immediately-first day in two months that I didn't have to throw food away!!  Based on the reviews I've been reading about wellness on these blogs, I think I'm going back to wellness for my cats, although, I still have reservations b/c of the whole ANI/Menu Foods issue.  I have my dogs on the Honest Ktchen mixed with Evangers "Hunk of Beef" or "Whole Chicken Thighs"--they love the stuff and my 12 year old Lab is bouncing around like a puppy.  If you are feeding your cats Wellnes, please share your experience with it. Cool
