Do you feed raw to your pets?

Your right they all say something different. I can only go by experience here. I know of 2 dogs that were diagnosed with cancer and Doc said to switch to raw. They both did very well and improved. I don't know what cancer but could find out if anyone is interested. Misty just went through Mast cell cancer that we treated holistically and she stayed on the raw. I myself did not switch. She also had another immune thing going on that has been cleared up and at that time still on raw. So it didn't hurt her at all. Every animal is different and you just have to go by what is working for animal.

Sure Bonkers, I've read opinions on raw and cooked for dogs with cancer...some say raw is best while others say cooked is best. It was more of a personal choice than anything. Since she's going through chemo I feel more comfortable knowing her food is cooked, and there would be less of a chance of any salmonella or other issues from the raw cooked food. I know the chance of anything like that is pretty low but I feel more better with the cooked right now.

I think some problems with feeding raw comes because we humans are so sceptical about it!  With the nagging subconscious feeling the scares of anti-raw people have left in us, we unconsciously serve the new raw food with a negative feeling to our pets........... and as we all know, they pick up our emotions much better than most of us can and respond accordingly - with caution!  A cat (and dog) should jump at a food that is raw and mainly (high quality) meat!

Obviously, I'm VERY late to this discussion, but here's my 2 cents .
4 cats on raw(yipee!!!), and 4 ferrets on raw. This has got to be the easiest diet in existence! Cut meat chunks for 7 days, cut/smash bone 3 meals a week for cats, give ferrets whole bone in meats 4 days a week, liver and other organ(usually kidney)- a couple grape sized pieces of each a week for each cat, 1 meal a week of chicken sized liver mixed with a couple oz kidney a week for each ferret. Bag, freeze, defrost as needed . Nothing else is necessary! I love it
The only thing that has ever really puzzled me is the fact that a two pound ferret can(and does) eats approx 4oz. a day, and a 10 pound cat will eat the same. That means, based on body weight, a ferret is basically eating 5X as much food as the cat

Its puzzling the amounts of raw different species need. My 82# dog gets 1 pound of a meat day. Doesn't seem like much but shes does great with it. Holding a good steady weight for about year now.
