Chicas, I love your beautiful quote by Chief Seattle! Thanks for the link. Dr Fox knows what the next pet epidemic will be; CRF. I believe it!

This site is the work of a woman who has (sadly) much personal experience with feline renal failure.

(IMO) it's well written using plain language, science-based and has strong veterinary support.

http://www.felinecrf.org/food_recall.htm#acute_renal_failure

(When I first came across it, I wasn't taken with the appearance but, when I got into the material...priceless.)

mary kay:  your welcome  Cheesy

i've been writing to pet food companies asking why they don't have food for cats with crf.  crf is the number one killer of cats.  many companies tend to have food for uti in cats...but the cranberries and other acidifying ingredients that help uti's aren't helpful for crf.  i've also added in those emails that now more than ever with the survivors of this tragedy, we'll need more crf food available!

wysong has one food for crf that has good quality ingredients.  i had originally crossed them off of my list because they are associated with menu.  but now it doesn't matter where the food is made.  and the majority of wysong's food is made in their own plants!  they have dry kidney food for my boy, tano, who would starve himself rather than eat wet or raw.  so now i will relook at selections i had originally crossed off the list...  Huh

quito is loving some raw food from whole foods (they grind up chicken backs, etc with bone and sell it in the pet food isle!  Grin)  anyway, quito loves it and tano wants to try it, comes by, keeps smelling it each time i give it to quito, licks his chops, but ..... nothing!  i even put in some of his fish treat (some strange fish name, dehydrated treat) and he still won't touch it.  i wish he'd just at least lick it, give it a chance!  lol!  he's my baby!

Maria, I know what you mean about the dry. I have 1 of 3 cats who would starve without it. Since she is overweight already I didn't want her to have liver damage by withholding food until she would eat the home-made, so she is now the princess! I have to keep her and the bowl in another area of the house. But when you finally get one of your babies to eat something good, it makes you feel so wonderful, doesn't it?
