Try this link, it is kind of a long read, but seemingly informational and relevant none the less.

Tommyboy, Another great article! This one is seemingly all-conclusive about everything regarding the Pet Food Industry. I would recommend everyone read it. Make copies for your friends that don't get it, yet. Thanks!

Tommyboy,

That is a fabulous article. I just printed off all 43 pages. I want to sit and read it all, highlite and pass it on to everyone I know. I have had my VET tell me NOT to make my own food. Sorry, I intend to do the research and make my own. Could my animals possibly do worse with my home cooking?  I do NOT think so!!!! At least what comes out of my kitchen is not full of crap.

Kathleen, I know! Maybe the reason for some advising against making your own is the hit commercial companies would take. I remember as a child, my aunt cooking meat for her dogs, giving them all sorts of treats and table-scraps. Mostly she fed them love, though. They always lived to their expected age! I highly doubt anyone concerned enough to stop buying commercial and make their own or feed raw is going to carelessly poison their pet! It has to be safer, tastier, purer, fresher, and nicer on animals in the food chain than what we have been feeding pets for the last 10-20 years. I understand completely why others may buy pet food, but for the life of me, can't feel the supposed concern on home-cooked/raw diets!
