Lets not rehash old times, yet move forward to finding the "truth".
Factual information is vital, and emotional decisions won't get us anywhere.
Thank you

Neither does being defensive about everything, nor does attacking other posters when confronted about "truths" get us anywhere.

Agreed Cindy. Lets keep an eye on the testing thing, and see where it goes.

Cindy.....

I know that Guelph University was doing some testing at one point but have been quite busy lately .......sorry I forget where I seen that posted......

I guess what I was wondering from you is.....do you know how much it costs (approx.) to get independant testing done? I assume that it depends on the testing....but I am just curious to know how much people have to pay......on top of their vet bills.....their wallets must be really getting hit!.....so sad!..... Cry

I'm thinking several hundred dollars...again like you said...it depends on the test.

You know who would know...the guy T Eric who had his food tested...he had several tests done on his food.

I have just read the transcript that was posted re the talk show. I have a Whippet here that has just been diagnosed  a few days ago with Chronic Renal Failure. I assumed this was due to his age--nearly 12 years old----  I know it is fairly common in older animals ----now I am not so sure. The Vet gives him, at the most, 6 months to live and said it had nothing to do with what he was eating.---but then  the vet  was way behind in his information about the recalls.  He said 3 weeks ago that the problem was solved----a lot he knew!!!!!  This  transcript has got me thinking. I would like to get his food tested. I am in TORONTO and  I saw that GUELPH is too busy. Any suggestions about where I can look for help? I will never forgive myself if my feeding him this kibble has caused his problem
Thanks for any suggestion   Christie said  on the talk show to email her for help,    but was she referring only to U S Labs? I will need a Canadian lab.

Not to step on your toes ladies, however I have been researching the testing, which lead me to the changes in which they are cunducting. The prior test was arround $79.00 the new method is as high as $350.00. I have been trying to send in samples, however the labs don't want to accept samples from the public because there is actually a sick group of individuals doing things to the products before they send them in?Huh Sick, sick, sick......

So they are several hundred dollars....

But why would someone pay so much for a test they know can be determined is fake?

Also, as far as melamine is concerned...I would think it would be kinda hard to get that stuff to put in the food to get a conclusive test out of a fake sample.

Also...one more thing...there are labs who are advertising that they WANT individuals to have them test their food. What labs are not accepting your samples?

And that is going to be a huge shame about this. They are going to want unopened, unadulterated samples to test, and most folks wont be able to provide that. There will be roadblocks, testing revisions, and I am sure plenty of intimidation directed at those people, who had a pet die from poison food, and are trying to seek some justice and/or retribution. Talk about sick...(this is just my take on it, I dont trust corporations at all. I think they stink, and they are out to screw us all. And I sure dont trust any of their claims of ignorance as to what was going into pet food. If it was cheap for them, then they knew.)

Are you certain it has to be a Canadian lab?  Why is that? Do they have a different criteria you have to adhere to?

Cindy....

I remember that Teric was getting several brands tested if I remember correctly.......it's really a huge expense on top of what people are allready shelling out!...I feel so bad for what this is doing to people.....especially when you think about those that have lost their pet/pets....

Hi Kathleen!

The only place that I'd heard of around here is Guelph....but recently I read that they were really busy and were not doing testing. Have you phoned Guelph and asked them if there is anywhere around here that COULD do testing for you? Just an idea....I hope you find somewhere.....I'll keep my eyes open for you...just in case OK?

Truth....

What are people doing to samples before they send them in?......and people are sabotaging their own samples that they have to pay for?....Doesn't make sense....but lately, not too much is making sense anyways!

Do you think that perhaps the price has gone up because they have to check for substances other than melamine?.....if you have a link to the info that you read...I'd love to read more about it.
