I kiss my cats on the lips

I have given Felidae Dry to my 3 cats every night since April 5th. They like it and actually beg for it in the daytime. I am feeding them cooked chicken and eggs, etc. at other times of the day, though. That's because I just plain don't trust that some other toxins will be found and then my dry food may be recalled. I know, my reasoning is flawed. But  I have continued to feed this commercial food only, while walking on eggshells.  Wink I don't like that it is made with meals and rice, but so far so good...I can't bear having them beg all day. Keep checking those recall lists! What a way to live, huh?  Sad

Mine was intolerant of someting in 2 of the Felidae dry cat foods & developed an allergy to the Chicken & Rice dry; he was pretty much compulsively licking himself 24/7 non stop. I definately isolated it to the Felidae.

I got a sample of this Friday, and it remains mostly uneaten in their bowl tonight (Sunday).  On to the next, I guess.

Lori - Is California Natural available in your area?

I know you have a problem with Natira's wet foods being made by Menu. But, they have already stated that they are going to open their own cannery, and will be dropping Menu in the near future. And, if you are not buying the wet food, you are not supporting Menu.

Anyone else have good or bad experiences with Felidae Dry? One of my cats really likes it...

My younger cat really likes it. My older cat will eat it if nothing else is there, but she really prefers wet food (Evangers).

One nice thing is that by feeding them different foods, I can monitor who is eating how much, instead of worrying about them stealing from each other's bowls.

Since I started this thread, I have weaned 2 of the cats off commercial. The 3rd was let outside to catch mice and also I gave her Felidae dry. (She started killing chipmunks for fun so I brought her back in.) She won't eat anything else but the dry Felidae dry and so she gets that in a separate room. Everyone else eats home-cooked. I am very cautious, but what do you do when they won't eat anything else? I had chosen this as my "safe" back-up at the beginning of the recall. (I almost bought Natural Balance because of all the posts, but decided to go with my gut feeling instead-thank goodness!) If I have any problems with this food I will let you know immediately.

I just ordered Felidae and Kumpikat last week.  They both arrived today!  I opened Kumpikat first
and both cats threw themselves on the food like they haven't eaten in days (in fact, they've been
eating quite well on Merrick wet and Fromm's dry).  When I opened the Felidae both approached
and tried it right away.  The male cat turned around after two bites and went back to munching
on the Kumpikat.  The female stayed and happily continued eating Felidae.  I'm glad they like both
and I'm glad I can keep both bags and feed them (albeit seperately) to both cats.

I was at the local pet food store (actually local, not chain or big box) yesterday, and they said they were not going to carry Felidae/Canidae (wet or dry) anymore due to what they perceived as a lack of consistency. They even went so far as to say that they had lost trust in the company.

It’s just the opinion of one store manager/owner, but I thought people here might want to know.

Yup. That's the way I felt about their canned food. (I never tried their dry.) I felt the same about their manufacturer, Evangers, as well. I wonder if the store owners have any feeling about Evangers? Just curious.

Yeah, I've been wondering why the Felidae would be so consistent in their inconsistency, yet Evangers own canned products (so far all I bought...cases and cases) are not inconsistent.

Yeah, I just posted my impression in that thread (basically, the same as yours).

I didn't ask about Evangers, but I will next time I'm there. They don't carry Evangers cat food, but I did see some dog food cans on their shelves.

I also sent a letter to Felidae telling them of the poor quality of the canned product with a Oct 2009 use-by date.  Found bone and rubbery chicken in one can, and a large 1" chunk of something brown that a knife couldn't cut in another can (threw it away) and a third can with a smaller brown chunck.  I only did a 10 day trial and during it used cans from three different date lots.  So, in that 10 day trial, three bad cans.  I moved on to EVO.
