Thanks Geff from tunning me onto Cal Natural.  The food seems very food compare with others.  The only concern I have is that my older cat had some blood work done last month (both cat had a can of recalled food a month ago but turned out ok).  The vet said the result shows that his kidney has some "wear and tear" and he has high chorlestrol.  He suggested that I keep him on senior food or a low protein diet.  I am trying to determine if Cal Natural can be used for a 13 1/2 year old cat with this condition.  I started only considering senior food - but have expanded this to other food that maybe ok too.  Any thoughts on this?

That's beyond my knowledge level. 2 thoughts:

1. Ask your vet
2. You might want to call natura, they've been pretty receptive to the 2 phone calls i've made. The first time I called the initial person admitted she didn't know the answer to my ? & put someone more senior on the phone; I consider that a good sign.

That's because people who live in the San Jose area are very smart and helpful. (Good looking, too.)

Ok Gary, now that we know you are in the Bay Area, I have to ask you (I've suspected this all along), but tell me if I'm way off. Have you ever worked at National Semiconductor in Sunnyvale?

From what vets have told me about my cat, not all cats do the spine thing; it's a form of epilepsy. However, if it's long term & is not causing the cat discomfort, my understanding is it's not something to worry about. I do avoid petting my cat's back, because he licks compulsively when I do so & I suspect it isn't pleasent for him.

If the behavior started only after eating poisoned food, I would suggest checking in with a vet.

Hi, guys, In Dr. Pitcairn's book, he describes lead poisoning, which is largely an effect of contaminated bone meal used in commercial foods, caused by leaded gasoline. I will quote him. "Lead poisoning can appear as a type of anemia that is recognizable, but not all animals poisoned with lead will exhibit this. Some will be hyperactive, have seizures, become hysterical, go blind, have stomach cramps and diarrhea, constipation, or develop thickened and itchy skin. Not all these symptoms occur-there may be just one. Something to consider if your animals exhibit strange behavior, anyway.
