Wysong is a food I used successfully for years. It has several varieties and an interesting philosophy and website. I never had a problem with it and my dogs are thriving.

Wysong also makes different, high quality cat foods. I notice the cat owners seem to have a bigger problem than dog owners. Some of you might want to check this small company out.

Several varieties of their canned foods are made by Menu. Just an FYI, if it makes any difference to you.

Most of their canned products are not made by Menu and none of their many others are. They tell which; I think two. That certainly is a concern but all their foods are of such high quality and my dogs thrived on them for years so I would not" throw the baby out with the bathwater."  I just wouldn't use those particular cans. No product will meet anyone's expectations if they "want to make it themselves". Homemade is the only way to go with that expectation. I do that too.  Personally I had a short list when I changed foods at the beginning of the month. One was Back To Basics. I still think its a good food even though I chose another. Look where its made. I believe there were recalls at the Chenango Valley plant this week. Does that change the particular food? We all make choices all day everday. The more information we have the better the choices.  (Don't you hope anyway?)

By the way Garypen don't you use California Natural dry? ALL their cans are made by Menu. So what's the difference here? Wysong makes their own product except for a couple of canned. Calif Natural makes their own dry but ALL canned is by Menu. Help me out here. I'm from New Jersey. Roll Eyes

Yes. I've pointed that out about CalNat, and Natura in general, many many times as the reason I don't buy CalNat or any Natura canned foods.

As for Wysong's foods that are made by Menu, it is two lines, not two products, Au Jus and Stew and Gravy. Those two lines include 7 cat products, and 7 dog products. OTOH, none have been involved in recalls. But, many people try and avoid any Menu-made products, myself included.

Some people even avoid bying dry food and non-Menu products from comapnies that use Menu. I think thoe people are going to far. But, it's their choice, and they need to know if a company uses Menu.

As for living in Jersey, you have my condolences.  Grin

The obvious would be to have interested people research for themselves. http://www.Wysong.net/

I had emailed WYSONG  a verbal assault concerning their nasty, condescending, sarcastic REBUTTAL.   Allison , from WYSONG, emailed me back with the rebuttal to the rebuttal---it gets increasingly more difficult to keep track of it all
 She ended with;
"I wish the best of health to you and yours."

That was the best laugh I have had all week--do you suppose that wish includes my cats?

Gary, Wysong had written a fairly condescending page in which they talked down to pet owners who were boycotting Menu foods due to the recall.  They have since withdrawn that page and replaced it with one that has a better tone, but still isn't very complementary.  If you go to http://www.wysong.net/ and click on the "further reading" link under "Wysong and the Pet Food Recall" you can see their current page.

They also have a page on the recall here: http://www.wysong.net/april20.shtml

Their first "defence" of Menu Foods was insulting to pet owners, so I'm not surprised they removed it from their web site when they realized how angry it was making consumers!  I was able to find it cached on Google:

Oh yeah. I saw that back then. It pissed me off, too, with its arrogant tone. I won't be using Wysong anytime soon.

Boy, my little 'imaginary' story from yesterday about what goes on behind closed doors at a corporation is starting to sound less imaginary.

Even before that I had stumbled on a Wysong web page that was trashing a competitor.  Don't even remember the other company.  But the attitude of Wyson bothered me and I wondered, if they are accusing the other company of telling lies, they are probably telling lies themselves.

I was turned off then and decided to not buy from them.  This additional one just makes me even more decided.
