The world's cutest cat

Okay, I'll be first.  Since we are all on here talking about our beloved pets, I thought it was time that we introduce them and post their pictures.

About my boy....He is an incredibly beautiful, sleek, shiny, black shorthair with big hypnotic eyes.  His intelligence is so keen it shocks me at times.  I have been fortunate to have had as my best friends 2 of the most amazing cats in the world.  I had my first cat since mid-childhood and when I left home, I took her with me.  We were two peas in a pod.  Again, her intelligence was superior to most people I know, just like the cat I have now.  So...I've been very lucky.  My first died at the age of 19 due to chronic renal failure.  It was one of the most painful experiences of my life, and I never want to go through it again.  I suffered more than she did, watching her waste away.  I was determined not to get another cat, knowing that I could never replace her.

Then came my current baby boy.  I found him as a kitten, still with his litter, in the berry bushes near my house.  Out from under the brush came this little kitten with the most extraordinary eyes I have ever seen.  Very sharp little guy from the very beginning.  Still not committed to the idea of having another cat only a year after I lost my first, I thought I would just have a little fun with him, but of course, I let him sleep in the house at night a few times.  After that it was all over.  When I would let him back outside, I would worry about him every second.  I was already attached to him...I had never known a cat like him.  His mother was my neighbor's cat, and they didn't seem to care much about their animals, so I asked to keep him.  He was so unique, I just had to have him.  They agreed.

We have been together for almost 11 years now.  We live alone, so he is my constant companion.  I can't imagine the day when one of us will depart.  I dread that like nothing else.  What is interesting about him?  Well, everything!  For example, he gags when he sees a bug.  Yes, that's right...purely a psychosomatic reaction, like humans have.  In fact, he gags at everything he does not like.  Even if there is a bug on the floor in another room, if he sees it, he immediately gags from 20 feet away...no throwing up, just a big huge gag, tongue comes out, throat convulses, then nothing more happens.  Of course I immediately dispose of that nasty bug, and we talk about it!  He hates little beatles the most.  He also growls and grumbles about people outside..not animals, but people, because he thinks he is a person.  He especially disapproves of strangers walking down the street, people pulling into the driveway if he doesn't recognize the sound of the car, etc.  It's hilarious.  And he only does this if they are outside.  If they come in, then he retreats and hides out.  I could go on and on about other endearing aspects of his character, but instead I think I will just post his picture...nothing fancy, just a snapshot.  That's him in my avatar too.

Davis, I absolutely love your idea. I had been wanting to share my "family" but we have all been so busy with business, here at the Forum. Davis's cats eyes are really hypnotic and soulful! Your story stirs my heart.
Ashgate, what a lovely family you have. What a happy household. Living proof of why what we feed our family is sooooo important.
I love it !!!!!!!!!!

After seeing everyone's cuties, I figured I would introduce my boys.

The first is my dog, Tyler Clarke.  He is a toy poodle and will be 9 this August. He is a brat who runs the house and eats like a king, with his home-cooked diet.  He likes to lay on your lap and will let you know when you have made him mad.  Very, very spoiled Smiley

Next we have Logan Daniel, who is my first cat ever.  We found him on the side of the road as we went to the mall in September.  He was 4-5 months old, full of mites, worms, LICE! and an upper respiratory infection.  Now, after living the good life, he is healthy, crazy and sweet as he can be.  He loves to follow you everywhere and acts more like a dog than a cat.  He is fascinated with Tyler, but knows to leave his big brother alone when he growls.

I love these guys and try to always do the best for them.  Thanks for letting me share.

Dragonheart is an adorable black and white Sphynx kitten, 9 months old.  My husband is allergic to cats, but fortunately isn't allergic to Sphynx.  Growing up I had a wonderful Siamese called Whiskers (because he was missing the whiskers on one side of his face from placing with his brother when we got him.)

Dragonheart, like most Sphynx, is incredibly friendly and active.  He keeps us on our toes!  He loves following us around like a little puppy dog and has tons of energy.  He loves to play.

Being a Sphynx, he is an indoor-only cat, although he likes to go outside on his harness, or in his stroller.  He loves watching birds.

Like all Sphynx, he has to have regular baths, which he doesn't enjoy, but which he does tolerate.  He just sits there in the sink and let's us bathe him.

Everyone who meets him falls in love with him, and is totally charmed by his friendliness.  He loves being around people, curling up in a lap, and snuggling.  He purrs easily and loves being pet.  He is a real sweetie

Dragonheart has his own blog at: http://dragonheartsdomain.blogspot.com/

Hi, Gang! This is Sharkey, a 4 year old female that I found on my deck a few years ago. She was starving and had apparently been surviving on my bird seed! I have since integrated her into the household. She begs to go out and once in a while I give in, but as of today she has again been donned an "Indoor Kitty". The cutest thing about her is the way she stands on her tip-toes on 2 feet and the neat little paw prints that leaves. She is a talker!!

A little history, here... My "lifetime" cat, 18 year old Binky (my avatar photo), died in 2004. I went 10 months with no cats (first time in my adult life), swearing I could handle no more heartbreaking losses like that. Then I volunteered at Saving Grace Animal Shelter in Roseburg. I just happened to take a cat carrier with me that day. Wink There I found Squeakers, the kitty in the basket photo on the left   Tongue.   She really squeaks! It was love at first sight out of about 60 other cats; she had been in a little cage for 5 weeks already! She went home with me that day. She is now 5 years old and still plays constantly. Since I couldn't satisfy her play needs adequately (you wouldn't believe the games she had me playing!) I thought of getting her a playmate. Six months later I was out on a country road jogging and heard a huge meow. There was this tiny little head in the tall grass sounding like a lion! He weighed 2 lbs and I put him inside my baseball cap and carried him home. I named him Mr. Quigley (the basket kitty on the right). Now Squeakers and Mr. Quigley are madly in love as you can see in the photo, and never tire of one another or fight. By the way, Mr. Quigley went from 2 lbs to 4 lbs after 2 weeks of feeding by me! He is currently about 14 lbs! They curl up in their basket like this daily and I have about 100 photos of it! These 3 sure keep me busy. Well, thanks for meeting them! Mary

I love all these photos. They are all so great. I see all the animals I've ever had or cared for in my life (100s by now) in all these little faces. Thank you all so much for sharing.

This is Tootles. She died this past December from heart failure. She was only 15. But, she had a defective heart valve that medication, diet, and lifestyle couldn't help. I helped her mom, Lucky, whom I found pregnant on the street, give birth to her. (Lucky died when she was around 8 from kidney failure due to what I now suspect was tainted food. I will search for a pic of her too.)

This is a different Lucky. He was named in honor of Tootles' mom. We adopted him from the county shelter. He was a very hyper and not to intelligent young boy for most of his life. But, he has grown into an affectionate, intelligent, and level-headed adult. He is quite handsome, and a credit to his race.

This is the newest addition to our family, Lucy. (The name makes a perfect pair with Lucky.) She is probably just about 1 year old, maybe a little less. She's quite small, and has a short tail, indicating part Manx. It seems she just wants to play and eat.

Whoa. I don't put any work into this forum. I just shoot my mouth off. Therese puts in all the work in around here. All the credit belongs to her. I'd like to see her pets! (Or, maybe she's too busy taking care of others' to own any herself?)

Amber crossed to Rainbow Bridge 4-16-07

« Reply #14 on: April 24, 2007, 08:00:02 PM »

We recently went from a 4 pet household to a 3 pet home.  This is Amber.  Our dear 19 year old Tortie.  She passed to Rainbow Bridge on 4-16-07.  She was abandoned at the school I worked at as a young kitten and I brought her home with the intention of finding her a home.  (yeah, right).  Our first son was born a few weeks after she came to live with us.  She grew up along side our two sons.  She was a great companion to them.  She also was unusual in that she was able to travel in her kitty carrier and went on many family vacations with our travel trailer.  That trailer was just a 2nd home to  her.

This is Haley.  She is my 6 year old Papillon.  She is a very dominant 5 pound girl.  She tries to run the house.  She is very intelligent.  She used to live with my elderly parents.  She saved my mom's life when she had a heart attack, waking my dad up to call the ambulance.  She's the ultimate lap dog though, and doesn't like to exercise much.  I see these agility Paps on TV.  Hah!  Not her!  She's a princess.  She doesn't like to walk on wet grass and hates to be in the rain.  She can be very moody too, and her feelings can be hurt very easily.  Our favorite saying is that she has "too much personality" and if she could only "talk with words".  She seems to have alot to say, all the time.

This is Chloe.  She is my 4 year old Pomeranian who weighs 10 pounds.  She is a rescue from a family member who could no longer care for her.  She was also very timid and afraid from living with a more dominant dog.  She is now very relaxed and outgoing and a very happy girl.  She loves people and loves to EAT!  She loves to run and play.  Her favorite past time is to wrestle and play chase with Holly and Haley.  She's a silly girl that just loves to give kisses.

Last but not least is Holly Berry, Holly for short.  She is our little miracle rescue kitty.  She is a 2 year old Tuxedo.  We rescued her at the age of 5 months, around Christmas time (hence the name).  She was a wild feral living under our deck with her mother and litter mates.  We were able to trap only her, the others left after we captured Holly.  Despite being told by several rescues that taming her was unlikely to be successful because of her age, we decided to try anyway.  It took a full month before I could handle her, and a full year before she was fully tamed.  But she is now a totally tamed house cat.  She is quite unusual.  She thinks she is a "dog".  She has bonded with my dogs and is a member of the pack.  She comes when she is called.  She carries her tail over her back like the dogs. She eats dog biscuits.  She is crate trained, like the dogs.  They all retire to their own crates at night (yes, voluntarily...it's a stampede...each running to their own quarters).  She has her own crate, nicely decorated with a privacy curtain and private back section with her litter box  Grin .  She also travels in her carrier in the car and has also gone camping with us, just as Amber did.  In fact, we had all 4 pets in the 28' trailer with us last year.  Shocked  Quite the experience, along with two sons over 6 foot tall.  She is a great cat.  Since I worked so hard to tame her...everyone now calls me the "Cat Whisperer"!  Roll Eyes  She is truely a unique girl.
