My vote goes to Therese's Abby.  Now why would a devoted cat lover choose a dog?  I will tell you.  When I was little, there was a dog in my grandparents' neighborhood that I loved dearly.  His name was Brownie.  Both of my parents worked so my grandparents took care of me during the day (grandma & grandpa daycare), and Brownie would come visit me everyday.  He and I had a very special relationship.  For some reason he decided that I was his favorite person in the world and his mission was to take care of me.  What a sweet soul he was.  He folllowed me wherever I went and always looked out for me.  I begged my parents to let me keep Brownie, but they explained that he belonged to someone else.  Of course Brownie and I knew better and that he really belonged to me.  Brownie eventually died and I was overwhemed with sadness.  Brownie was an old rusty colored dog with a gray beard, and he looked exactly like Abby.

Awwww, thank you Davis! I can't even begin to tell you how special Abby is to me. She was my Mom's dog and since Mom and I have always been very close I've known Abby since she was a pup. In fact, Mom and I were out driving around one day when we saw someone trying to give some dogs away. We stopped and fell in love with Abby and had to bring her home. As years went on she became Mom's shadow and what a connection the two of them created. I'm sure Abby was Mom's soulmate dog that many of us talk about.

A year and a half ago Mom passed away after a very brutal 3 month bout with leukemia (and inept doctors). Abby came to live with me after that and I know it probably won't be all that long before she joins Mom. Until then though, I'm pampering her and giving her the best life I can. She's an absolutely wonderful dog.

I'll let Abby know she's the pet of the day today! Wink

I was hoping you would tell us more about her Therese. Thanks!  She radiates such sweetness.  Yes, definitely tell her she was pet of the day and give her a big hug.  I'm so sorry to hear about your mother.  What a sad story. It must have been such a difficult thing for you to go through.  It's often equally difficult for pets who lose owners that they are close to like that.  They sometimes pass not long after just from the grief.  Abby is very lucky to have you, and I'm sure you are the reason she is still here, and can enjoy her remaining years.
