It's gotten to the point that there seems to be new companies adding recalls every day. Thus, companies are being removed from the "foods not on the recall list" list.  Also, some of the brands on that list do have some foods in recall.

It seems to me that a more usefull list would include ALL pet food brands, with a notation of whether they have any foods recalled or not, in addition to the manufacturing info.

That way, people only have to look in one place. After all, it is called "The Pet Food List". Why not list them all?

Good point, Gary. Perhaps listing the company name in bold red letters when they have a recall would be helpful. What do you think? Suggestions are most welcome!

Therese, Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. I like the bold red letters. We have to remember how many people are visiting the site that are not as familiar with it. Many things that seem obvious to us may not catch on with everyone. Whatever we can do to save one more precious life!

Great idea for the bold red letters. I have a feeling that people go to The Pet Food List to see if their brand is having any issues, who manufactures it, and any other details that may be provided. So, limiting it to only non-recalled brands doesn't give its full potential. Plus, pretty soon, it seems like there won't be many non-recall brands left!!!

I'm so glad you guys are here Smiley It helps to get input like this. And Mary...I hadn't thought about newcomers to the site, but you're absolutely right. I'll be working on some revisions over the next couple days and may ask the two of you for input.

Great idea!  Just one list which includes ALL the companies, with the ones who have had recalls in bold red.  It's perfect.  Then we can look up everything in one area.

When you guys get a chance take a look at the list and see if the addition of recalled foods is clear enough.

Thanks!

It says on the home page that it is a list of foods that have not been recalled. So, I am confused. I thought it was now going to be a list of ALL pet food brands, with notations on those brands that have recalls.

Garypen, I think it looks good, Therese just needs to update the title on the Homepage. Since the list was the start of the Forum, I think there should be a direct quicklink on the Forum homepage. I had to jump around a few times to find it just now; I hadn't looked at it for a while. That would be easier for guests. Thanks, Mary

Therese,
thanks for doing a wonderful job with the updates.

I'd like to ask swould it be possible to contact the companies again to check which ones have started testing all incoming ingedients for melamine. Now that chicken and pork is suspect also, it would be reassuring to find a food which is likely to be safe. Since chicken meal or chicken fat is in almost all cat foods, I really don't know what is safe to feed anymore. And I envy people with dogs. My cats refuse home cooked.

Hi alek0, I'm constantly contacting pet food companies. lol  Many of them have started contacting me with updates! I'll add that to the list of questions.

And fyi, I'm working on some changes to the list to help make it even more valuable to all of us.
