That's right.

BTW, regarding your comment about "what do I know." If you recognize that problem that kids have nowadays with the "gimmies," then you are already on your way to knowing a lot. One of the easiest things a parent can do is stand up to their kids....and lo and behold, many of them do not! And once the kids get used to getting what they want every time they demand it..it becomes a habit....THEN it gets hard to stand up to them.

Boy, if that isn't the truth!  You only need to go into any busy store to see this in action.  Walmart is the worst...it's like a case study in bad parenting.  So sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy Cindy.  They can be quite dangerous when they burst. I'm happy to see that you've lived to tell about it.

CW, I've only had pet kids too Wink, but don't sell yourself short.  You don't actually have to be a parent to know what good parenting is, or to understand nutrition.  Ahhh, the information age.  Yes, there is both good and bad info out there.  But, I'll take this mix as opposed to "no info", which is how it use to be.  Thank goodness for the blogs and sites like this.  We would be lost without the opportunity to share info, and to sort through everything out there, filter, apply good science, and finally make some informed choices.

totally agree with you there.  I DO have a son now, he's 2 years old, but I had my own opinions and ideas about parenting long before he was born, and I am putting them into practice now.  some have been modified, yes, because you also learn as you go, but that old "you don't know till you have your own kids" is just a cop out.

Thanks for the kind words...believe it or not that was more than I got out of the Kaiser Hospital doctor...."So, I guess you were right,"  Roll Eyes

And yes, I was this short of peritonitis.

Before the "information age," it was 'find the right books.' So you should see my house! An overfilled bookcase in every room! Most of them are published in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Now I don't know what to do with most of them, as the info is outdated. If I don't read them anymore...they still hold associative memories!

Yeah, absolutely. Information is power... it's a cliche, but that doesn't make it any less true.

That would be very helpful.

I know that this is very old but its the grains "not" carbs that the cats shouldn't have. Carbs are needed to a point for energy. Not much, which is why most raw foods are 95%meat and 55 carbs(fruits&veggies) same about grain free kibble. I believe the ratio there is about 70/30 in some and 80/20 in others.

Correct me if I'm wrong perseus. I know you know alot about this too.

I found parts of this article interesting:
