Chinese government blocks FDA inspectors

So, there is poison in their food products, and then they forbid inspection.  Hmmm, sounds about right, don't you think?  They have completely refused to cooperate from the beginning.  Why then do we still do business with them?  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that this relationship is a very bad decision. Why in god's name doesn't our government get wise and cut all food trade with them off permanently!!  How obvious does it have to be that it is beyond risky, not to mention their lack of business ethics.  Read the full story:

It's these kind of ethics that make me worry!...What's next? ....The breakfast cereals that our children eat? I know that "Nestles" for one makes those products! Do we have to worry about human foods causing a mass murdering of our Human kids before something comes of this? My God!!!...This is etrocious!!! Contact All the Presidental Candidates too!!!.....Maybe at least one of them will have the fortitude to take a PUBLIC stance on this issue...They'd get my vote!!!!

Oops. I started a thread about the same topic. I'll go and delete that one.

But, I agree that the US gov't should ban ALL food imports from China, whether raw ingredients or entire foodstuffs, until they let US FDA inspectors into the plants, as well as thoroughly investigate Chinese agricultural and food processing practices.

I said it before on the petsit blog, as well as this forum: China has a long history of poor food safety laws and enforcement resulting in illness and death. They deliberately add toxic chemicals to their foods and animal feeds to make the food look better, as well as mislabeling ingredients, and even selling counterfiet food products disguised to look like the real thing.

Japanese consumers have known this for a long time. Only the poorest (or cheapest) Japanese will buy food products made in China. And, the Japanese govt also has no problem banning suspect foods from suspect countries, such as beef from the UK, Canada, and US during the Mad Cow scare. We should be doing the same with Chinese grain and grain products, at the very least, if not all foods, until we can be sure it is safe.
