I just sent the following email to the managing editor of my city's newspaper. I had originally emailed him on March 26th. He responded the next day that he would have a story editor contact me, which never happened.

4/18/07:
Hi Dave - I wanted to let you know that no one ever got back to me on
this. This is still a major underreported story & is getting worse. I
strongly believe there is a major cover-up going on by almost everyone
in the industry & that likely almost the entire pet food chain has been
tainted. At this time, sadly almost all useful information is coming
from internet blogs & forums. Here are a few links if anyone is interested in
pursuing this & hopefully helping to save some lives. If nothing else, I
believe getting the word out on how serious this is is essential.

I simply say to that........."I agree with a resounding YES!"

Too many people are still unaware.....and don't know why their pets are feeling ill or have lost their appetites.

Also, a lot of people out there who have been affected by this tragedy....need to know that they have recourse and what they can do if confronted with their pet illnesses that are contaminated food related!......and the Media as of late has not been providing the public with those (along with other important issues) in a very pro-active manner!

Hey Geff!
Don't give up. That's the trick, PERSISTENCE...and also NUMBERS: if more messages like this appear on his desk, more than likely they'll start covering this story.

So, get EVERYBODY you know to start bombarding this guy...and...to keep hounding him until they get a reply or stories start to appear.

Oh yah, the EVERYBODY doesn't need to be pet "owners"...just anybody who cares bout the issue.

Absolutely TAZ!!!!

ANYBODY and EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!

BTW...this morning, I was channel surfing all the morning news programs that I get and seen that CNN reported onit's little "ticker" line at the bottom, that Wilur-Ellis was recalling it's Rice Protein because it MAY contain melamine and stated that it had informed the FAD, who is contacting petfood companies that bought the product, naming 4 States...Utah, New York, Kansas and Missouri.

What seemed ingenuous to me, was the fact that it also said that 11 dogs have reportedly become sick.....but that NONE.....had died!!!!

Am I going mental....or did some folks in Austin Tx. not just lose their furry family members from ingesting NB?

My point being....when being persistant (which is so important!) also persist the accuracy...and if they want proof....send them your vet's name and contact numbers.

It made me so mad when I seen that they reported 0 fatalities!!!! My pets are safe.....but I e-mailed CNN (again!) and told them also to read some of the blogs on these websites of those who have indeed...lost pets to NB!

No, you're not going mental! There was a discussion on the blog over at PetsitUSA.com about pets getting sick and dying after eating NB. The news also had a story here (I'm in Austin) and a few vets were interviewed who said they're seeing a lot more kidney failure in pets who ate the stuff.

I just finished reading an article out the Pittsburg Trib. about the on-going non-compliance of Chinese officials with the FDA. Add to that, now they're even hanging up the phone on people and telling them not to call back!!!....Now, tell me, these a$$h#*es have nothing to hide!!! I'm pissed off beyond words now!! I mean for God's sakes!!...We're talking about the Human food chain (pork) now!!!

I got an idea how to REALLY get the Media's attention now!!!....but we gotta' be smart and we have to KEEP on doing it!!! NON-STOP!!!!

Here's the battle plan!!!!!!

Ban China's hosting of the Olympics!!!....Yes, that's right! BAN CHINA'S HOSTING OF THE UPCOMING OLYMPICS!!!!!!!!!!

Because this has become a HUGE HEALTH concern that is GLOBAL.....the World Health Organization and the United Nations has to get involved!!! Bet the Chinese Officials won't be hanging the phones up on them and telling them NOT TO CALL BACK!!!!

I'm not savvy enough or have the contacts to get to the UN and WHO, but I bet there has got to somebody with those skills!!! Start the DEMONSTRATIONS on the weekend....carrying sign that say "BAN CHINA'S HOSTING OF THE OLYMPICS!!!!!!

Freedom of Speech.....gotta' love it!!!!!.........China stands to make substantial financial gains from being allowed the privilege to host these games!!! But why should a country with so LITTLE regard for life....be home to such a prestigious event.....let alone for food safety reasons!

China has done nothing but proclaim their innocence in all this.....but is hesitant in complying with any Agencies....that would be beneficial in it's investigations! They simply do not care about our's or any other's lives and continue to be a HUGE player in the poisoning and mass murdering of our pets....

Remember, this weekend.....Wear your signs infront of the Embassies, wherever!

BAN CHINA'S HOSTING OF THE OLYMPICS!!!!!!.....

Think that'ss catch the "Eye of the MEDIA?".......Bye! I'm off to make my sign.....RIGHT NOW!!!!....... Cool

The Washington Post finally got on the Pork story today. The media is still horribly under-reporting. I can understand TV to a degree, as they are 100% dependent on the Bush FCC's good will for their cheap bandwith; but newspapers??? As I posted in another thread the only papers I've seen that are on this is the Pittsburgh Trib & USA Today. My local paper has absolutely 0 mention of this today; the first printing day after the Pork story broke.

Hi Geff:....

That's why I wanted to know if anything was planned here in T.O......I would gladly pass out flyers and try and rally up as many people as possible!

A LARGE group of BIG-MOUTHs (like myself!) getting together and causing some controversary....should garner some Media attention...that would be my hope anyways!

We just CANNOT let this issue blow over!!!....I believe that there's no interest being shown in the general public because there's not enough noise being made!!!......Unfortunately... Cry

I wish we had some sort of centralized group; something like PETA does. We could keep our energy permanently going to make the industry accountable. There could be state membership with dues, meetings, T-shirts, etc. Then we could easily organize demonstrations when we had to. Isn't that what PNV2 is doing?

I like this idea. If mainstream media would pick up on the organizing we are already doing, it would be a done deal. All that would be left would be to pick a name for the group.

That's exactly why these flyers are going to be "flying" outta' my hands tomorrow....as well as pinning them up......I know someone with a staple-gun that would be more than happy to assist!... Wink

At least these flyers that I've just printed....thanks to TAZ.....are more Official and have a more "formal and important" look!

The ones that I made up...had website addies on them for people to research and the latest recall news...........and a lot of people just look at you like a quack sometimes.

But this has the names and dates and a place for the forum...........more organized you know!!! I can't wait!!!....I am between jobs right now (I'm a Chef....my doggies really DO like their home-cooked food!).....so, I have all the time in the world to devote to this cause.......I'M READY!!!!!!.... Cool
