Geff...

Btw.....I just learned that you had eye-surgery! I knew that your eye was bothering you...I just didn't realize about the surgery you allready had.

I hope everything is going OK for you.....at 47....my vision is slowly diminishing....and I'm certainly having to wear my glasses more than ever!

My best wishes for a super-speedy recovery!..... Grin

I tried TV stations, FOX Providence, 60 Minutes and 20/20.  The only response I got was instructions from 60 minutes on how a story is sent to them properly.  I have not done it, mostly because I do not think that it is of interest to any of these people.  Apparently, if a mere animal dies (our dog, Joe, died of Menu Foods kidney failure recently and I'm half-destroyed  by it), that's not exciting enough.  But maybe we should try harder.  If enough of  us contact, say 60 minutes in the appropriate manner, they might take some notice.  Otherwise, we do thank goodness for the internet and human rumors.  That's how I heard about the food recall and then we found out Joe was sick.

The media response doesnt surprise me, in fact I have suffered the same here in Australia.

I dont wont to bore anyone but I can tell you my story from down under. Three and a half years ago I came up with the bright idea of writing a fresh food dog cookbook after doing heaps of research for my own dog frodo. I eventually got the book out in Australia and now in the USA and Canada, but it wasnt an easy process.

When I went to promote the book in Australia, all the vets on TV barred it from their shows. One of them emailed me saying that she was employed by the pet food industry and that she couldnt talk about home made fresh food as a diet for your dog, even though she appears on TV, magazines and on radio talking about dog wellfare as per the contract she was under. I then find out that all the TV vets are contracted the same way. Not to mention vet surguries that promote and sell processed food and as well said they couldnt sell such a book if it wasnt clinically proven to be a balaned diet. So essentially there is no forum in Australia to talk about alternatives or the health problems your pet will suffer from sustained use of processed food.

And then ofcourse not the mention who owns all these companies, Nestle, Mars, Uncle Bens to name a few. They spend huge sums of money on advertising their various products pet and non pet related. They have a lot of sway with the media given the amount of dollars they spend.

A friend of mines cat died recently at the age of 6. She lost all her hair and the died. The vet has no idea what caused it. It was one week after the brand she was using was recalled in the USA, and this wasnt the first story I started to hear.... but any recall here?? any warning about the potential risk.... nothing!

Keep blogging... and if you want to check out my book its www.grrrr.com.au

Money is all that seems to matter to these B**trds anymore. No matter whether it's a dictatorship (China) or a SUPPOSED free country that's pretty much ruled by corporations these days (USA) money's all that matters to those in power.

I had a fantasy that Australia wasn't as bad as here in the US. Guess I was wrong.....

Unfortunately the grip is just as tight. But that doesnt mean the message cant get out there. Thankfully I have had a lot of interest in the book from people who think the same way but its hard when just about all the vets promote using processed food and many people take what the vet says as gospel.

In Australia all the vets have a rack of processed food in their surgery waiting rooms but if we went to our doctors and saw that we would be outraged. People need to question their vet over carry and promoting a product that may financially benefit them but should never be promoted as a staple diet for animals. Constant use of processed food is bad for both humans and animals.

I always feel sorry for a dog that I hear only eats dry biscuits out of a bag.

In the 1950's, cigarette companies would get doctors to recommend their brands in advertisements. And, pharma companies get doctors to push their crap to extremes in their offices.
