p.s.:  forgot to add since the other forum where I posted a link above, has already researched several viable options to address our outrage to, I do think it's worth a visit & consideration.  thanks for hearing me out.

This particular client of mine is a very emotional person. If she were to try to do that, she would fall apart, and then be very ashamed later for having done so, esp. in public. This is of course in relation to her pets. She has already lost one of her cats to an unknown cause in the past year. She still can't talk about it without losing it. As a matter of fact, she may now be wondering in light of what's happening with the food, if the death of her other cat was related to this in some way too. She would not be able to handle that very well, nor face it if that were the case.
I am sure this is not abnormal for people. I have a feeling that many, many people are this way. If I had lost an animal to this thing, or will in the future...I would not be "contained" enough to sit here and talk to you all, nor would I be contained enough to walk into a store and give someone a "lucid" piece of my mind. I already mentioned to Therese more than a month ago, that I would have to be "locked up" somewhere if I personally experienced this kind of loss. This test I would not pass. I know it. I can't even give messages of condolences to those who have posted losses here because by the time I read through them, I am crying, and can't focus anymore. I would never be able to write anything of meaning to any of these people. I just can't do it.

Cindy......

I hope I haven't made you feel these emotions that I'm reading in your last post by going on my rants about getting involved in the pet food cause.

I know what it's like to lose a pet....I lost my girl of 15 yrs.....6 years ago. Got really drunk for a couple of weeks, slept with her "blankie"....things like that! So, I really do know what it feels like to literally fall apart!

I can't imagine how some people are coping with a loss due to this petfood tragedy!! The sadness and anger must be "all-consuming"....But guess what?..That's OK cause some people grieve differently....and some turn to causes like this for comfort and comaraderie.

Then there's the "big mouths" like me.....who lecture family members to death about how could this be happening...you should see what I found out today....etc...I swear, it would drive most families nuts! But not mine...cuz they just know...that's me!!! And whenever I can..I'll do something to help the fur-babies that CANNOT speak for themselves......or in this matter, for the pet parents that are too broken right now, to speak....

Please pass my condolences to your friend....and let her know about the "big mouths" like me....who are speaking for her...till she gets her voice back!!
Take care Cindy...and btw, seeing your posts here shows enough support for me!... Grin

I sincerely hope I haven't made anyone feel badly.  That has never been my intention.  Fortunately, I haven't lost a pet to this mess.  I only want to add my support to those who have.  It's a grievously heinous situation & deeply saddens me beyond what mere words can express.  Our fur kids trust us to feed them something healthy.  The fact this recall has reached the point it has, is beyond excusable.

Ally, Hi! I haven't been able to keep up with both forums since they have grown so!! Sure, combining all into one petition would be good. (I did sign the one already, come to think of it. ..I think it was on Itchmo?) Is this the one you are referring to? Maybe I was thinking of a form like Willyagogo mentions that members could download and pass on to their local friends and then to their state representatives. Yes, I am in USA.   Embarrassed

Don't get me wrong. I am considered a "Big Mouth" too. I also have been talking to anyone with ears about this thing. It's just that I am a VERY passionate person when it comes to animal issues. I am of the mind that we are morally wrong to do "things" to other than humanoid creatures just because we can...and I constantly spout off about that. Every once in while I CAN make lucid statements about things. It just takes a lot of focusing on my part.
And don't worry about me feeling bad...I already feel bad...and it wasn't you who caused it...or anyone else here on this forum. It was these idiots who found the loopwhole to get through, that they could take advantage of us (now it is humanoid too), the animals, the government, and who knows who else. I'm constantly vacillating here between anger and grief. But I'll get through it, as I hope others do as well. Believe me if it weren't for this forum, and all of you good people...I would be a lot worse off.

Go look at the Pet Connection!!!
Gina added the post card campaign we've been assembling at Itchmo's forums into an official blog entry!

You wanna grab the media's attention?  Then PLEASE spread the word and join in.
Do it for all the pets who can't speak for themselves!

Boy, this thread was getting confusing! There were 2 conversations going here. One between Willyagogo and Cindy. The other one was between myself and Ally! I hope Ally realized that! What I was meaning to ask, Ally, was what other forum are you associated with? The PetConnection, it seems, from your last post. I will go check out the postcard you mention. Thanks!

Boy, this thread was getting confusing!

Hi Mary!

Sorry I missed your post!  It has been confusing, especially while trying to get the word out somewhere since this idea developed out of comments from one of the pet connection's blg entries.  With all the commenting flying at the main blogs it's heck trying to keep up let alone sources bookmarked, LOL!

Anyhoo, that's the reason E. Hamilton began the topic at Itchmo's forums since the Pet Connection doesn't have forums & Gina at the PC suggested it.  Now that the info has been spread among the well read recall sites, I'm hoping more people will see what we're trying to do and join in.  The more postcards, the better I feel our message will get across!

Mary.....

Sorry, but....what was so confusing?......On the 2nd post of THIS page, Cindy mentioned something about her friend and she also mentioned that she didn't think she'd be able to write letters due to being so upset....something like that....if you go back and read it you'll see.....

We WERE on the subject hand....about contacting the Media.......I was just trying to respond to that post.....and I only responded ONCE.

Is that the conversation you were speaking to Ally about? Sorry if I went off topic and made things confusing......though I really don't think that the WHOLE thread became confusing because of those 2 posts on this page

Once again I apologize for any mix up!.... Huh

Willyagogo, I must have been the confused one. When reading the thread, it appeared that you and Cindy were talking about a certain client in a store who had a run-in with a pet food rep. She was too emotional to respond (to him?) I thought you meant verbally. Then you and Cindy spoke of how this might be upsetting to one another, talking about all of this. Then Aly stepped in and said she hoped she hadn't upset anyone, (how could she have?).  I was only responding to Aly and her mention of the Itchmo postcards, not the client in the store, etc. I was afraid Aly thought she  had upset someone. I really didn't catch that you were all talking about starting petitions. Anyway sometimes when several are in a conversation and there is a lag-time, the posts don't necessarily flow consecutively. I missed it. Sorry!

Here it is in a nutshell (I hope  Undecided).
My client would be too upset to confront anyone in a store...if she did she would be ashamed. I get too emotional about all the dead due-to-food furkids, and can't respond coherently to any of those suffering. Both Wilyagogo, and Aly thought (I think) that they were contributing to that emotional state, which I assured them they were not.

No matter what happened......one thing that I do know, and certainly realize to be true...and that is.....we're all here for the same thing, and that is to save our loved ones(our fur-babies)....and no matter how or what way we figure out how to do it......we're doing it!!!! Just by exchanging ideas etc....it can only be a step FORWARD in trying to put a stop to this mess!!

I think you guys are all great......and I like to read this forum....I've gooten some GREAT ideas and help on this thread alone!!......It's an inspiration for me to see other people that are so into their pets.......it's great!..... Cheesy
