Apparently, the moderator chose not to post, or removed, the post I submitted yesterday.  I guess you can dish it out but not take it.

Note that NV's expanded recall notice referenced positive salmonella tests on two date codes that were not included in the initial recall.

I guess it may be that you able to post false information elsewhere is why you are so upset. Here we pride ourselves on facts. Yes we have opinion and we clearly state when something is our opinion. You on the other hand chose to come here and try to spread false allegations against a company with no proof at all. No attacked you. You did the attacking. We simply asked you to prove your allegations. You could not. It is as simple as that. On other less tasteful sites that may be allowed but it isn't here. I support the moderator in not allowing you to make false allegations and not allowing you to call out other members. That simply is not acceptable here. It may acceptable on other sites but not here. We are a group of people that try to provide good information and help to others. There are no cliques and no one trying to one up anyone else. We come here for opinions and facts. That is what we want and that is what we get.

Again there is no press release or any information that supports what you say.
The "expanded" withdraw was a precautionary measure. Overly cautious if you ask me. But that is why they are a great company. They decide to remove "all" chicken regardless of dates or codes.

Here is their release. No where does state 2 new batches.

Quote
Nature’s Variety has received new test results from an outside facility that indicate that Chicken Formula Raw Frozen Diet with the "Best If Used By" date of 10/29/10 and Chicken Formula Raw Frozen Diet with the "Best If Used By" date of 11/9/10 may be contaminated with Salmonella. Therefore, we are voluntarily recalling these date codes of product from the marketplace. Also, out of an abundance of caution, we are expanding our voluntary recall to include all Chicken Formula and Organic Chicken Formula Raw Frozen Diets for dogs and cats with any "Best If Used By" date on or before 2/5/11. We believe taking this action is an important and responsible step in order to reinforce your confidence and trust.

I hope that clears things up for you.

On a good note. I am happy to say that I was by told by a store I go to that the "New" HPP Chicken will be at most stores next week. Yeah. Can't wait to try it. I worry about the HPP causing problems with taste and texture. I hope not, but I will know by next weeks end. I plan to pick some up Beginning of next week.

I've been reading some of the posts here & feel the need to say a couple of things.

I have little or no faith in any PFC after all I've heard & read in the past couple of years.  However, if ever there were a PFC that I would praise & say that I trust about as much as I could ever trust a PFC, it would be Nature's Variety.

I don't work for them nor do I have any stake in the company, I just personally like the way they have been up front & honest each & every time there has been a problem.  They haven't done anything "silently" or tried to keep anything from going public, unlike what just about every other PFC has done at one time or another.

Why this one poster has chosen to go against NV I don't know nor do I care.  I just think that they need to back up what they say w/a link or some other kind of proof.  Just about every forum I have ever joined or posted on has the very same rule:  if you have something bad to say about a company, you need something to back you up before you post.

End of story...... Tongue

ETA:  I forgot to mention that I feed my precious Hannie NV Instinct & have for a very long time (in rotation w/others but I use this more than any other dry).

Hannie, I couldn't agree with you more.  Every PFC has or will have problems.  Just like our own human food supply chain.  I get emails almost daily from the FDA about recalled foods for salmonella, eColi, listeria, undeclared allergens, etc etc.  I don't see any of these "human food" companies putting notices on their websites or more importantly changing their processes to prevent it from reoccurring.

I don't work for NV or have any affiliation with them.  I don't even feed their foods to my cats.  I do feed raw food and I'm sure it has bacteria all over it and never once after feeding raw for several years have my cats gotten sick.

On March 8, tomp posted this on itchmo:

"BREAKING NEWS

Nature's Variety has now recalled all of their regular and organic chicken raw frozen diet products with a Best If Used By Date on or before 2/5/11.

Looks like the FDA did some follow-up and discovered that the former employees were speaking the truth."

His statement about the FDA is pure conjecture and opinion and cannot be substantiated.

PS:  This is hardly breaking news.  The earthquake in Chile was breaking news.  I don't understand why all the drama about this recall.
